Hasnt Reni quashed the idea?

This rumour appeared to be propagated by John Robb and his Louder than War website, then for some reason the MEN, NME and various others reported it as gospel truth. I hope this special press conference is nothing more than an annoucement of yet another compilation.

Saying that, a reunion is inevitable. Far too much money to be made.

Never liked The Stone Roses and if this rumour is true then I can see it ending in abject failure.

Sometimes reunions work (Blur, Pulp, Suede) but they'll only work if the band want it and it's not all for the cash. Of course money comes into it but i'd hate to go see a reformed band and it be like they were just going through the motions. Seeing Pulp in the summer, the band looked more lively than before they went away and they looked like they were having fun. Can't see that happening with The Roses.

IMHO they are right up there as one of the greatest bands ever. Creators of probably the greatest album ever laid to vinyl.

Ian can't sing - no shit.

I wouldn't go anywhere near a reunion gig though - as someone else has stated it would be rammed with utter c**ts fucked up on the wrong drugs.

brown has no singing voice, i saw him last year at the m.e.n, he was simply dreadful. BUT and its a big BUT maybe just maybe, I like to think they could pull something out of the bag every member of the band are very talented and there's no doubt they have the back catalogue of tunes.

i think it basically comes down to brown and his dying voice.

As someone who went to see them at Spike Island as a 16 year old and loves the band I really hope that its just the usual annual bullsh1t press report that hits the press before being denied.

In 1990 Brown's voice was not great but certainly much much better than it is these days, 20+ years of heavy smoking has taken its toll and as has been said above, the legacy of the band would definitely be tarnsihed if they make a come back, Back in the late 80s and early 90s the band could get away with Brown not having the voice of an angel because of the moment and the fact that the rest of the band were amazing. The moment has well and truly passed and if they played gigs at Heaton Park it would be full of knob heads throwing pints of piss, throwing up and fighting.

Brown and Mani has always said that they would be selling out if they reformed and would be selling their soul to the devil because it would only be for the money so I really hope they stick to this, I could accept if they did a couple of gigs just for charity.

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
    • Oh well that's why then, I assumed it was still the same. Thanks!
