something I've read somewhere this morning - I can't remember where now - said that the new Liverpool manager will get £30M+ to spend.

nothing you wouldn't expect from a chairman who might lose his manager.

But I suspect that he's thinking much like me, that Martinez won't be hugely keen for that post. Martinez would be leaving a club where he has excellent support from above for what stands a big chance of being a poisoned chalice.

Any manager who does take the job is going to be taking a big risk - and for Martinez that's likely to be career destroying (while it wouldn't be for the likes of AVB or Klopp). Martinez would do better going to somewhere like Villa, where he'll be given a fair crack at the whip, and where if he fails he'd get another Wigan-type job aftterwards.

according to one of the papers today - which I read about on the beebs daily gossip - Utd are prepared to match anything City offers. No idea whether it's true, mind.

It'd put Rooney's nose out of joint if it did happen tho - but he'd have no reason to complain, because RVP is better than he is.

Speaking of similar LFC fans who bitched at Barry for moving to Man City instead of them look a bit daft now.

As do the EFC fans who bitched and moaned at Lescott.

In the main that's very true, but it's not always everything that's going on.

RVP's missus came out with some stuff last week about loving London and how settled the kids were - and that's likely to factor in things somewhere I reckon. How much influence that has tho is something else.

I agree. He still needs to learn his trade. Going to something as potentially poisonous as Liverpool could ruin the promise of an otherwise long career. He needs to learn more. I reckon he'll go to a European side for a couple of years before returning to an elite Premiership side as one of the best, most modern managers around.

I'd bet the likes of Adebayor and Berbatov would disagree, game time would also factor. You go to a club like City, brimming with stars you chance of a game drops massively.

Like Mr Efests said also, personal stuff would come into it.

Who knows? Rafa's team was going very well at the time that he wanted to dump Alonso for Barry.

I thought at the time that would have been the most dreadful trade cos Alonso is a fantastic player and Barry isn't, but who knows how it might have worked out if it had happened?

Eh, they're both players who'd moved to clubs where they've not really got a game for FUCKLOADS more money. Adebayor may have moved on to play he' still on MILES more wedge than he would be if he ever actually agreed to sign for Spurs proper. He'll be sitting on the City bench occasionally next year if no one wants to pay to take him on loan
