Because he turned to (relative) shit aged 24, fell out with Thompson and Houllier and they were worried he wouldn't sign a new deal and leave for free a la McManaman and Owen and they wouldn't get any cash for him. So they flogged him to Leeds where his career died a death.

Fowler was never the same after his injuries mind. He had alright records at Leeds and City (got player of the year or something), but Leeds was a terrible move at a terrible time just as the whole club fell apart at the seems. Despite having no mobility, still knew where the goal was when he came back. He's have scored a fair few in our team. Fowler at 30 was still one of the best finishers I've seen, just a shame the rest of his body fell apart as well.

As for Dempsey Im with Nal a bit, he has a had a great season and is a very good player, however its not as if he has played at that level for 3 or 4 years. I think he could get lost in the shuffle at a man u or arsenal. Liverpool would be a good move, those calling it a sideways step are talking rubbish, liverpool have far more potential.

I remember when he signed for Leeds. He did an interview on footie focus the next day and kept referring to Liverpool as "we" and then correcting himself. You could see he was sad about it. Didn't want to be at Leeds at all. He really didn't give a shit after that.

Very very few.

Gerrard, Carra, Scholes, Giggs, Xavi, Iniesta, Valdes, Puyol, Casillas, Totti, Terry, Schweinsteiger.....

Thats about all I can think of. No coincidence that they're all great players.

I think thats a little simplistic, its because they are/were very good/great players that they are the ones that come to your mind. There are loads of average player playing championship/non league football who love their club just as much.

i'm guessing they reckon they can exploit the London tourist market if they were to move there - and they'd probably succeed, it's a well-placed site.

Yup, could be. Tho if it is it's not the first time it's been used, so it's a step further away from things being just a bargaining tactic.

Don't think it's to do with injuries. He was more interested in his horses than football when he 'played' for us.

Nobody remembers him at Madrid. He screwed Newcastle and then he burned his ties with Liverpool to go to a club where he wasn't going to play and who were never going to embrace him!
