On the international side of things... I'm unsure. The Champions League is a higher standard of football nowadays and he's more than capable there. If he did win the World Cup though it would certainly be hard to find a way to criticise him though!

Oh extremely important. Yeah, we were 1-0 down took the DM off in an attempt to grab a late late equaliser. They scored soon after. We were good in that final mind. Just conceded that odd goal just before HT.

Oh and here's a video for those doubting Messi could do it in a more physical league. The boy can hold his own.

Bolton 1-1 QPR

Villa 1-1 Fulham

Chelsea 2-0 Stoke

Sunderland 0-1 Liverpool

Wolves 1-3 Blackburn

Everton 1-1 Spurs

Man United 3-1 West Brom

Swansea 1-2 City

Norwich 4-1 Wigan

Arsenal 3-1 Newcastle

Liverpool 1-1 Everton

Not trying to a Lawro with all the 1-1s, genuinely think it'll turn out that way! Don't think many teams defences are up to much either.

The world cup final is still by far the biggest match in football, people will watch the world cup final because it is the premier match in world football. If you get a champions league final without an english club such as porto v monaco, or inter v bayern the tv ratings in the uk are pretty rubbish. The world cup is still in my opinion the tournament that a player would choose over any other because it makes them legends in a county and not just a club. I still believe in terms of a player having a long term legacy the world cup is the place to be, the fact its every four years make them more memorbale and prestigious.

Oh don't get me wrong. Not criticising the World Cup, just think there's a lot of luck involved with performing well at a World Cup so doesn't necessarily mean its logically the barometer of a great player- even if romantically it is. For example you can be lumped with poor squads, poor managers (MARADONA!) or injuries and if you only get a couple of goes at it you may never really be at your best

I suppose any cup tournament has an element of luck, you go through past champions league winners and probably a significant amount were not the best team in europe at the time. Look at the 2 liverpool v milan finals, Im pretty certain neither teams would have been european champions if it was a league and not cup format. The amazing thing about the world cup is despite the element of luck from a cup format, the right team nearly always seens to win.

Rafa being a deluded c**t on MOTD, after a feature on Moyes acheiving 10 years at one club in the premership including part which mentioned Everton finishing above Liverpool one year to get the final champions legaue place on much lower resources, he goes onto explain how Liverpool don't have greater resources and it would of been nice to be at a club like Moyes where the chairman supported him.

How much did Benitez spend at Liverpool!? He's talking out his arse.

I'd like to see Moyes given a shot at one of the big spending clubs. Think he could really do a job for Chelsea, deserves the chance. Abramovic would never go for him though. Not glamourous enough

Fucking dire. Worst since the Hodge era. Adam was woeful.

At least we played well last week. 2 wins in 11 is not good enough. Not calling for any heads or anything but seriously need to kick into gear sharpish.

As utd are in the europa cup(just), has there ever been a manager to win all 3 european trophies?

European cup/champions league

Cup winners cup

Fairs/uefa/europa

Im sure paisley only won euro cup and uefa.

Nope don't think so. Paisley probably never even competed in the Cup Winners Cup.

What managers have even won the two that still exist? Can't be a huge number that have. Rafa and Mourinho in the modern game. Who else?

good result for Everton and a derby win mid-week would put them above Liverpool. Feared the worst when top scorer Beckford and play maker Arteta went in the summer without being replaced but probably safe for another year now.

    • Yeah, I think it's important to differentiate between a stage that's just a platform for the artist to walk on (which can be assembled fairly quickly and without too much difficulty), and the custom staging that you get in big productions where there's a whole world underneath.   Using the Eras tour as an example the stage extending out into the stadium field has all sorts - lifts that go up or down - down most importantly as this allows performers to enter or to leave the stage as needed. There's passageways to get from one part of the stage to another. There's what are effectively dressing rooms set aside for costume changes. There's spare instruments (and techs to look after them) so if something goes wrong above they can be swapped out in the space of seconds. There's even a track and dolly system running the full length of the stage so that Taylor can be moved from one end to the other faster than she'd be able to walk.   I don't know the specifics of the Madonna tour to the same degree but my understanding is that a lot of the same techniques are used.
    • Wow just got myself some Megadeth tickets and not sure I can afford another set of tickets for another gig so soon but we'll see. Fingers crossed
    • Can't speak for Dua Lipa's, but Coldplay's was vastly scaled down compared to their stadium production staging though, and tracks were adapted to reflect that. MOTS tour had a full walkway 30m out to the B-Stage in the middle of the crowd, and two C-Stages. Glastonbury didn't accommodate that at all and just had a very small walkway in front of the Pyramid stage, and (IIRC) a disconnected B-Stage.   Which re-enforces my point. Acts can adapt their stage shows if they really want. Most do, some don't want to. Glastonbury might miss out on the odd act that doesn't want to slightly adapt, but so will most festivals.
