Strummer, I know you don't like to hear anything negative about your club, but are you seriously saying that the way the club have conducted themselves through this whole saga hasn't contributed to what happened last night? Throughout they have projected an attitude that suggests (well to me at least) that despite the gravity of the alegations, they didn't really take them that seriously. Yes the guy that shouted the abuse last night was clearly an idiot who's views have no place in modern society, but he clearly felt that the "everyone is against us" mentality that Liverpool have whipped up allowed him to say what he did. Had the club acted differently through all this, then last nights incident wouldn't have happened.

To me the club's stance has been the opposite way round to that - i.e. Suarez is innocent and oh yeah racism is wrong. From my view they just haven't come out strongly enough against racist behaviour. Just my point of view though. I dread to think what will happen when the 2 clubs play next month.

I wonder if the Liverpool chief exec may pay the price for this mess. To me he should have been the one who took a step back from the passionate feelings about the incident and stopped the silly statement and shirt incident. When Liverpool needed to sit back, stay composed and think about things, it never seemed to happen. To me that needs to cone from above the manager and players.

Strummer. Agree with you about a lot of footie fans being idiots. That's clear. Worldwide. A mate of mine is a Premiership rugby ref. Hes good mates with Howard Webb. My mates routine before a game is to drive himself to the ground, have a coffee, chat with the teams, the management, the commentators, the fans etc. Toddle off after the match, regardless of the result, for a swift half with the clubs officials/fans etc and then drive himself home.

"Webbie's" routine consists of being driven at high speed in a police escort to the ground from a hotel four miles away, escorted into the dressing room and after the game being escorted, again at high speed, back to the hotel, where he gets into his car and drives home. Thats due to the risk of attack from fans. 100%. Sad.

So it's not a pop at all Pool fans, the vast majority of whom are well educated in football terms. But this head in the sand stance clearly isnt working. Liverpool have to accept some responsibility and just acknowledge theres a problem. HUGE PR issue for the club now.

One thing I will say about last night is that the Mirror appear to be guilty of making up stories, as nobody was arrested in conjunction with the incident, but they were running the story very quickly last night. Disappointed to see the Guardian follow them and initially say there had been arrests.

Its a couple of fans at the most. Doesn't reflect the club at all. What can Liverpool do? Line up 42,000 people outside the crowd before and ask each one "Are you a racist?".

As before, we're dealing with a lot of halfwits when we talk about football fans. Thats my point though. Liverpools reaction hasn't really done anything to help the situation. They should have anticipated this. Its just heightened the "us vs them" mentality. Throw in a handful of fans, pissed up, and anything could happen. And something did unfortunately.

The problem you have now is that, well..... a lot of football fans are halfwits. Anything goes now. Liverpool are a racist club to a lot of people after the last few weeks. Totally wrong obviously but just as Liverpool cant do anything to control a tiny minority of idiots in the ground, they also cant control idiots outside the ground, on Twitter or idiots who write for shite publications like the Mirror.

Hence the huge PR problem.

While I agree that tribalism has been a huge problem here, in my opinion the attitude of some man utd, using it purely as an opportunity to attack Liverpool, has contributed to a poisonous atmosphere just as.much as the Liverpool fans who blindly assume his innocence because he is a good footballer in a Liverpool top

I don't believe Liverpool are soft on racism and this talk.that they will blame the oldham player is mischievous troublemaking. If guilty I'm sure that man will never set foot in anfield again and rightfully so. There's too much point scoring going on for me and its just making the situation worse.

If the reports are true then its quite probable that if Liverpool had handled the situation better, yesterdays incident would not have happened. However any man willing to say this, probable needs little excuse to act like a racist scumbag. Any idea that liverpools handling of Suarez/evra has created a whole breed of racist Liverpool fans is stupid.
