Preseason means nothing tho, owen scored loads in his debut preseason for united...

Berbatov is an unforunate one since he's finally come into his own this year, only to get shot down in flames with hernandez emerging as a serious talent, and thus, he's been sidelined. Still at his age and with the time left on his contract, it's time to go.

FFP

monitoring period 2013/14 will consider 2011/12 and 2012/13

monitoring period 2014/15 will consider 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14

monitoring period 2015/16 will consider 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15

*Only applicable if we were to let him run down both years of his contract or extend further, but slight argument that 2011/12 only applicable to two monitoring periods, whereas 2012/13 applicable to three, so absorbing the full £7.5m in 2011/12 so that his book value is £0, and then exercising the option, would mean wouldn't have an that £3.75m for monitoring period 2015/16. I couldn't really see it being overly important though even if we did as new Nike deal would absorb it.

A top manager, any top manager telling a journo that "you and your paper can f**k off" in public is absolute gold.

It's comedy gold, but fergie's starting to get real form for it, isn't he? There was something similar a few months ago when someone asked about Giggs.

I'm quite surprised that you're laughing at it tho, cos it hardly shows Utd in a good light. And aside from the straight forwards angle on it, for people with some negative views of anything around Utd, it's further confirmation of fergie's arrogance and how he likes to use it.

(But of course none of this changes how the recipient of it acts in return, especially not refs.)

Having mentioned Giggs, and cos I don't generally read gossip but sometimes quite like it, can anyone tell me if him and his wife are still together? Pure nosiness, nowt else.

Yeah it does, he doesn't give a f**k about journos, why would he? More of that from managers please!

it depends whether his haranguing them/attempted-banning them is done for honest reasons, or not.

If the journo has fabricated a story* then I'm right behind fergie giving him some, but given what happened with the giggs thing - which at best was a huge over-reaction - plus fergie being well-known for going well over the top it's difficult to give fergie the benefit of the doubt.

(* I'm presuming it's the supposed fergie quotes about going for Scnieder (sp?), which as far as I know could be genuine or could be made up.)

Yes. Nothing says "Im sorry" like 90k a week.

true.

I don't think Alec comes out of that well at all. Same would have to be said of any manager - particularly Kenny.

You admire his bullyboy tactics. I don't.

No issues with that either.

Wenger acting the c**t, Kenny told him to piss off.

Journo acting the c**t, Fergie told him to f**k off.

Both hilarious and both justified.

It was made up and they attributed the quote to Ferguson. So in this case, hes right.

how do you know they're made up?

Just cos fergie might have denied them doesn't mean they're false. His anger might not be about invented words, but instead about words he said that he didn't want reported.

In fact, I'd say he'd be more likely to be more angry about the latter than the former - after all, words of no truth happen around football all the time, and in 99% of cases there's not really any damage done anywhere from them; it's water off a duck's back. Whereas if secret negotiations are revealed, then there's clearly the potential for damage else they wouldn't have them in secret in the first place.

And while I know the press write endless bollocks about football, I'm starting to think that there might be something to this alleged transfer after all. They don't normally stick with a story so strongly after official denials, which then suggests they might have had off-the-record briefings of some kind. And perhaps Fergie thought he was being 'off the record' while the journo took the view that he didn't explicitly say it so it wasn't there - it happens.

Whether or not the quotes are real doesn't really matter. Cass is (was? ) meant to be one of the journalists that Fergie got on well with, so possibility that he may have said something, but if he did it most definitely would've been off the record.

If we were in deep negotiations and publishing these quotes (real or not) has jeopardised any chances of a deal, then pretty understandable that Fergie could be pissed off.

    • Same’s happened at MSG recently with Rush and Phish alternating nights. I guess each band has its own unique production so their riggers will be kept busy
    • The rumour was uk arena tour late this year.  Same as Charli xcx cant be announced until Reading headline is done.
    • Latest from the sun at least is that harry is still headlining but Olivia has turned down a spot next year to work on new music and hope for 2028.   So they can't have Fender, Fontaines, Harry, Olivia and Madonna.
    • I mean I don't think EC and FFDP are borderline sub, they wouldn't be any lower now.   2025 is about as strong as Bloodstock gets yet this year only one headline would sub and the others would play 3rd down or lower.    Machine Head wouldn't sub at Download regardless of rarity, they don't sell enough tickets and I'm not sure Gojira would sub either. Their last UK tour was a mix of smaller arenas and academy dates. Ally Pally being the only London date, not even Wembley Arena.
    • live music / main stage will generally end around 11pm but theres dj’s and late goings on right till 4am if you are so inclined.   Drinks are about £7.50 a pint probably and yes theres lots of mixed drinks / spirits / cocktails available to buy   wonderful festival, back for my third year in a row and 4th overall
