Leaving the Festival

Actually, that is a slight lie...we were pushed towards the Bristol direction by police traffic people so were in a queue until out of eyesight then did a quick u-turn and went back the other way. By the sounds of it i'm rather glad i did!

Parked in E8, no queue at about 11am, and went straight out! No 4 hours etc queueing - I was dumbfounded!

Left W51 at 8:30am on Monday and just drove straight out with a clear run to the motorway. I actually couldn't believe it! Few mates left after Beyonce and queued for an hour just to get out of the carpark. Sometimes it does pay to leave on the Monday!

I think it's usually down to the luck of the draw.

Touch wood in the 7 years I've been going we've never been seriously delayed getting out of the site, but have always encountered problems further afield whether we've gone home via Bristol or back along the A303 past Stonehenge.

got to W50 at like 7am, queued for about 10 mins to get out and even with a stop off at mcdonalds was back in yeovil by 8:15am, so much easier than anticipated

Queued at pedestrian gate A for about 50min, all the time totally ****ing it about missing the coach. I think the main problem was that the National Express coach queue was merged with the Castle Cary shuttle queue, the former emptying into an empty-ish field and the latter not moving at all most of the time. Once they split the queues it was more or less straight though, to my massive relief.

Got straight out of the car park at about midday Monday but was then pretty much bumper to bumper all the way to Bristol for several hours.

Reckon we left the car park around 8.30am after a lovely lady shared a new route bypassing the inital queue. We had to go South for 35 miles to drop friends at a garage where their (broken down car) had been towed to early weds morning on a mad twisting tiny route that would have been impossible without the satnav.

We dropped them at the garage, fuelled up, turned onto the M5 1 minute later and then hightailed it to Leeds - missing a lot of the snarl ups around Glastonbury I think.

Without a stop after hitting the m-way we were in a beer garden in the sunshine in Leeds @ 1.25pm. Not bad at all.

For various reasons we left after Paul Simon on Sunday. After getting the camper packed we were ready to go about 8ish. From starting the engine to getting onto the A37 it took us 4 minutes. We were straight through Bristol and back home in Leeds within 5 hours. Not bad considering we had 2 petrol stops and I was driving a van that can only do 60mph

Was crap leaving this year - left via Blue Route from Oxfam field - must have taken 3 hours just to move about a mile down the twisty path to A37, and when I got there they sent me South without option when I needed to go North towards Bath! Had to go down and turn around and come back up, then of course got stuck in the queues on the main road caused by other site traffic exiting

We left east 20 camper field at 10am took the back roads over to Wincanton and up the A429 right the way up instead of going towards Bristol and joining the M5 as we were towing it took roughly the same time .

We left the West 40 carpark at about 1.30am on Monday morning and had about a 20 minute wait before getting onto the road. Very happy with that, eventually getting home to Kent around 4.45.

Started the engine in W40 at 13:45 on Monday and drove straight out of the site. I wanted to head up to the M4, but one of our group insisted on going to the Maccy D's on the A303 at Sparkford (we had all met here on the way down on Weds), getting to which took an hour. :angry:

That unfortunately kind of forced us on to the A303 back towards London where we queued for 2 hours up to Stonehenge. :angry: :angry:

WE WILL NOT BE DOING THIS AGAIN. If she wants to go to Maccy D's after Glasto next time, she can walk there herself and then walk the 250 miles home.

No traffic for us at all, left camp at 8am, offsite at 9.30 home at 11.30 - took almost as long to walk back to the car with all our gear than it did the drive home!

Was I at the same festival as everyone else? Lets W33 at about midday. 2hrs to even get out of the gate, traffic was at a total standstill with about 4 queues all trying to get out of one gate. Finally out onto the road, got directed right towards a slow backstreet route throughout the countryside that took about another 2hrs. Finally onto the A37 then the A303 which was gridlocked pretty much the whole way until Andover (then had to deal with London traffic).

10hrs from getting in the car to getting out of it for me. Bloody nightmare :angry:

Heh. Five days of some of the most amazing festival food and drink, and you end up at a bloody McDonalds on the way home?!

You definitely need to put your foot down next time!

We were parked in East 6- left about 1.30pm and moved pretty quickly out car parks- probably took us about 20 mins to be on A37 but as there had been an accident on the A36 got directed down rather than up the A37 so that added a bit to journey but the traffic was flowing so wasn't too bad. Biggest pain was waiting for someone tp let us join the main exit path in our field to get out- waited ages for someone to be kind enough to let us in- was fairly obvious that we weren't trying to be cheeky as car was parked right next to track and they would of seen us loading car up etc.

Was worried were in for a long wait though as we walked through East 1-4 it was gridlocked and thought we'd be joining the back of that queue but thankfully didn't

Left Hitchin Hill campsite around 11 ish walked straight out via Hospitality gate by Gate A into W34 car park loaded up car started 12 pm out of festival 12.05 went via Shepton then Radstock then bath then M4 to Swindon then Carterton Showered and watching Sky plus by 2pm. Easy peasy lemon squeasy

Left at 5pm after bagging ourselves two brand new tents, two brand new chairs, a chair extension, 8 tins of red bull, 20 tins of beer, one bottle of bitter lemon and a pair of sunglasses from the ruins. Bargain.

we left around 6am on the shuttle bus bk to castle cary and we got bk to newcastle at 8.45pm i later found out the delay was because someone had been hit by a train and to top it all off the metro broke on the way home so we all got back in at 10.15 pm grrrrrr

i would do it allllllllllllll again to be back there now oh how i miss it
