Stone Roses will be there, but I don't reckon they'll headline. Can see this summer's SR shows being erm, .. disappointing, and their star waning pretting sharpish. Second/third from top by June 2013

yeah, if they sign or agree now, they'll headline, if they wait till after the summer shows it won't be such a big deal. Having thought about it, I reckon Eavis will sign them as soon as he can, there's a lot of mutual respect etc etc, but my point is, if he were to be offered them from scratch this autumn, they wouldn't be headliner material. I hope I'm wrong, but can't see this reunion working on any level.

If the stones tour, they'll play Glasto.

I'm far from sure about that. The Stones essentially auction their tour dates to the highest bidder, and I can't see them changing that for what will be their last tour and so their last chance of earning. They love their money too much.

Having said that, I don't see it as impossible - but I'm a very long way from having the same certainty as you about it.

18 days and 1.8 million between the two. Thats why they didn't play.

For the record they were absolutely shite at IOW. As they have been since 1975.

But I think theres a good chance of Glasto. One of the few places they haven't played, BBC TV, 50th anniversary of the band, new album to flog etc.

So in that theory, they had already got a money deal, why not play Glasto for BBC TV then?

I think it's almost sure and Neil may agree with me that this will not happen unless they have a big outdoor Hyde Park Gig or something too to rake the money in.

And yes, I have heard they were shite at IOW 07.

I may have slightly mis-read but point stands really on the sillyness of your statement you can't criticize someone else for saying someones nailed then say the same thing after.

You may have slightly mis-read? I don't believe that. I suggest you keeping re-reading that, I made use of the word if any, and with respect the guy who said about The Rolling Stones being nailed on, did not. So my point of statement is very valid, just you sir, are reading it wrong,

Might have been an exclusive contract to get said money? Where's there would be less of thing of doing there own massive show and earning money from that then doing Glasto for BBC coverage.

Fans of the Rolling Stones hoping the band will one day headline at Glastonbury Festival, pricked up their ears when they heard festival founder Michael Eavis refer to the band in a Dutch interview carried on Youtube.

When the interviewer asked how booking headline acts is done, Mr Eavis replied: "Well I phone up Chris Martin, or do the Stones, or phone up Paul McCartney, so I do that myself."

The impromptu interview happened while Mr Eavis was in Holland to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's European Festival Awards. Back at his dairy farm at Pilton, near Glastonbury, yesterday Mr Eavis admitted the Stones: "are on a wish list".

"It would be brilliant if they came, and brilliant for them too. They are the only band in the world that we haven't had play the festival. Everyone else wants to play." But he added: "I would not ring the band myself – I have known the agent all my life." Mr Eavis is giving the Glastonbury Festival a year off this year.

Seems a good interview.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
