Mud People

Although is definately going to be sunny this year, we were briefly talking bout a few of the rainy years in the weather thread. That's when I was reminding of the crazy mud people. :O

Is anyone here a mud person?

Did you manage to get the mud off later, or did you wonder around covered in mud for the rest of the week?

I couldn't imagine doing it myself so was curious why others do it. Is it fun, or do you instantly regret making the muddy decision?

I hear that they normally go out in packs.

In 2007 I remember watching a pair of mud peope push walk their way to the front in a very crowded main tent. It was very amusing to watch as a sea of people jumped out of the way to avoid getting covered by the dripping mud.

We had to mad mud people bounce up to us after Gogol Bordello's set when were at Camp Funk in 07, they were staying there too. Cant remember how they dealt with the mud ridding though.

i was a mud person in 1998. not a deliberate make a show of myself one you understand, more the stumble over pissed kind. it just sort of happened.

my solution was to get into the warm showers fully clothed. it was raining all the time anyway that weekend so i was still wet, just slightly warmer and less muddy.

I always assumed that the Earth absorbs them back up and reclaims them as it's own, living off the decaying flesh for another year

I thought that is why there are so many tents left behind in the muddy years, the Earth has recycled the people.

I may be wrong though

Often wondered - (un?)fortunately even at my most intoxicated I've always thought forward to all the hassle of getting un-muddy so never tried it.

Will have to add it to the 'to do before I die' list :).... and hell, if there's beer money in it as above, I know my price and it's cheap :P.

I think it varies.

I think some of them are sober attention seekers, who have thought it through, and will proceed to a shower and a clean set of clothes when they've finished.

Others are drunks who haven't thought it through and will suffer later. Still, as long as you've *got* a clean set of clothes, you can clean up and change into them. And as long as you've got money you can get a clean set of clothes.

I dabbled in the mud in 2004. I was suddenly overcome with an incredible urge during the opening bars to Primal Scream, Rocks. Donning a red bin back around my neck and a superman T-shirt I dived forward (into that huge pool of mud which appears on the right hand side of the pyramid) in a pose not unlike this one...

I ended up face first in the mud. As soon as their set was finished I went back to my ten and changed and used wet wipes. Other then having to pick the odd bit of mud out of my hair for the rest of the night...all was fine. HOWEVER....I'll probably never do it again.
