This years meme

I know it maybe a bit too soon but as I'm wasting so much time on this forum rather than doing something that could be earning me beer token I want to what people hope/think this years festival meme will be?

tl;dr: Alan!

P.S. If there's already a thread point me to it as the search function here sucks for some things.

I reckon there will be a load of rumours stating that David Bowie's playing the spirit of 71 stage. Every year there's a Bowie rumour, there was even one last year we were told that he was going to be playing the Pyramid stage before Muse on the Saturday by these drunk farmers who camped next to us.

It's an idea that is spread through a population through people imitating that idea and evolves. Richard Dawkins first coined the term in The Selfish Gene as a metaphor for explaining genes, so it's way older than 4chan. It can be anything from a cultural idea to a catchphrase on a tv show to annoying 4chan jerks repeating the same damn pictures in every thread they come across. <_<

But yeah, 4chan ruined it for everybody.

I could see one of the memes being "potato"

I can also imagine some of my friends trying to start their usual "Free Nelson Mandela" singalong, and seeing if it spreads around the festival.

Normally they're not particularly original and are just people repeating a catchphrase (all be it an obscure one) from a TV show.

Expect to hear something from Family Guy.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
