I've been following this thread for the past week and felt the need to sign up tonight.

BLUR TO HEADLINE?!

1 - They are very overrated IMO as a band (just saying) but do have a few good songs.... unlike Green Day who are amazing and would be an awesome headliner

2 - I thought the Olympics performance was some sort of exclusive? Now it's one of a string of gigs?

3 - The brits performance looked like a shambles and they were wasted and looked like they don't give a s**t, I don't wanna pay £200 to see that thanks.

green day have not made a good album in a very long time, there past two efforts were dire. If they headline and don't play one of the earlier albums i'll be gutted. w*nk headliner.

A few people have been posting videos of Blur at Glasto the other year. Well I was there and I can safely say it was the best performance I've seen by any band ever. The Universal was a proper hairs-on-the-back-of-the-neck moment. It's a performance that has gone down in history and the people who'll be at Reading and Leeds this year are in for a real treat!

Saw Kasabian at that same Glasto and whilst it was a good fun set which provided a singalong, it was in broad daylight which was nothing compared to just how brilliant they look brilliant in the dark. They always seem to work the crowd as well and (assuming they're closing Leeds) it will be a great way to end the weekend, shouting along to some anthems.

I've seen the Foos about six times and each time they've been nothing less than absolutely brilliant. There's no mindblowing stage setups like with, say, Radiohead or Muse, but just a solid set of tunes that get the crowd pumped, fronted by one of the most charismatic people in music.

Every year there's one, sometimes two headliners that leave the general consensus feeling a bit underwhelmed (The Strokes, Guns N' Roses, Blink 182, Arctic Monkeys, Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Razorlight, Red Hot Chili Peppers) but I can guarantee that all three headliners will absolutely blow the roof off at Reading and Leeds 2012. And I will give a tenner to anyone feeling anything less than quite satisfied by those three!

V and it's TOWIE wannabe clientele can stick their Tinie Tempah and Dappy up their collective arse, as this year's Reading and Leeds looks set to shit on that joke of a fest. Today, my friends, is a victory for our festival!

(* - we'll still have the Roses and Mondays though )

I agree, they are nailed on, bands that headline Rebellion play R & L and I would guess that is why Rebellion announced very early to try and sell tickets to Rancid fans early before they announce a small UK tour and R & L?

Thing is I agree that the last two albums were poor, they lost that simplicity to thier music that made them a great act. Now they seem to write songs in a more constructed way and have become a completely different band and for me a shadow of thier former selves. I'd still watch them though if they headlined. But I'd be more interested in thier older stuff.

to be fair i'm a green day fan and well, 21stCBD isn't the best. however when they were touring it, and when they played at wembley they were playing a fair amount of older stuff. then again they did have a 3hr set so they had a mix of old and new. lets just hope their new album goes back to their roots.

It's definitely NOT Blur.

I've had info come in overnight which clears that one up definitively.

I'm pretty confident of having further info today to clear up Green Day one way or another. I expect that when the yanks wake up.

Yeah I saw them at Wembley too and I remember at 1 point they said something about the new songs "suck" and then launched into an oldie. Still my fave live Green Day song is Shout and it's not even theirs.

Neil, I only asked for Blur to be down graded to a R from SR but to have them completly gone from the rumours page is even better-nice work fella! Its going to be a very (Green) day today I feel

Green Day are incredible live, whatever they play. Their older stuff is obviously better, a return to their roots would be perfect.

They say 'AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH' too much though.
