Really hope it's not Bloc Party, they're a good band but they just don't have any wow factor even if they have been away for a few years.

Unfortunately i am viewing it as tounge in cheek, its just i'm so desperste for it not to be them, awful awful band! Seen them twice now, and those are two hours i'm never gonna get back, i admit there a biggish band, and look like a strong sub but headlining i'm not sure. Just hope if it is them, theres something else on unlike friday night 2010, never been to 'bed' that early in years!

Bloc Party can headline as long as someone like Avenged Sevenfold headlines the NME Tent to make a decent clash.

I am a fan and altho I thought they looked really good headlining the other stage at glasto 09 I have to agree they aren't main stage headliners. Strong sub I'd say

Can't say I'm surprised they have been a major slide last few years, got offered a 2nd stage slot at V and their staduim shows had to be cancelled due to lack of tix sales. Not too fussed, good band but I was never really a fan.

would be good, if not unrealistic. i can see smashing pumpkins headlining the nme, considering the expansion, and their recent tour announcement.

Pumpkins in the tent would be immense, wouldn't be too unrealistic considering the size of the crowd they drew in 2007.

I'd say Corgan's ego may be a disruptive factor, but then if they're agreeing to play Academy-sized venues in this country who knows?

I think (hope) that there is not enough variety in the suggestions being put forward, e.g. Biffy into Foos. They may well be likely, but I'd like to see them mixed up a bit. How about Faith No More into Foos? Or into Black Sabbath! At least that way, the poor souls who went to see KoL instead will get a second chance to watch a truely great band.

Black Sabbath was random, but Faith No More are entirely possible unless they are another on this mysterious list of bands who would never play Reading again
