Best sub-headliner into headliner Combo

So, I was thinking about how Elbow into U2 is going to be a pretty special 4 hours.

Edit: I know it was elbow into coldplay instead in the end but the point still stands.

But, what do people reckon is the best sub-headliner into headliner in terms of major acts, but also linking well into each other that the pyramid stage has witnessed.

Faithless into Stevie Wonder was a non-stop dance/boogie-athon. But I think Elbow at sunset into U2 could be something wonderful. Thoughts?

I actually thought Kings of Leon were good, not as bad as a lot of consensus appears to be on their performance. Still love first 3 albums and about 3tracks off the last two.

Just thought that's possibly the worst one for the majority of people from recent years :D

James into Primal Scream on the day that England beat Colombia in France '98 was pretty special.

I don't recall if the game ended before or during James' set but I remember Tim Booth saying something like "if England had lost we'd be playing a set of miserable songs, but since they won we're playing a greatest hits set!".

    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
