"I am unable to watch the Olympics due to the blustering jingoism that drenches the event. Has England ever been quite so foul with patriotism? The 'dazzling royals' have, quite naturally, hi-jacked the Olympics for their own empirical needs, and no oppositional voice is allowed in the free press. It is lethal to witness. As London is suddenly promoted as a super-wealth brand, the England outside London shivers beneath cutbacks, tight circumstances and economic disasters. Meanwhile the British media present 24-hour coverage of the 'dazzling royals', laughing as they lavishly spend, as if such coverage is certain to make British society feel fully whole. In 2012, the British public is evidently assumed to be undersized pigmies, scarcely able to formulate thought.

"As I recently drove through Greece I noticed repeated graffiti seemingly everywhere on every available wall. In large blue letters it said WAKE UP WAKE UP. It could almost have been written with the British public in mind, because although the spirit of 1939 Germany now pervades throughout media-brand Britain, the 2013 grotesque inevitability of Lord and Lady Beckham (with Sir Jamie Horrible close at heel) is, believe me, a fate worse than life. there's rumours flying round that Kate Bush will perform 'Running Up That Hill' live at the closing ceremony (in the stadium, not at Hyde Park).

this is looking more and more likely to be true, from snippets coming my way.

I went to the weightlifting on the first Sunday. No British athletes were involved and most people in the crowd knew little or anything about the event. We were cheering, encouraging and congratulating the athletes for just doing their best - just a wonderful atmosphere to be in.

On the flip side i'll be cheering our British canoe-er on tomorrow when I'm there that bit louder. Can't wait. Then we're going to head to Hyde Park to watch the 10k swim and then other events on the big screen. Just being around lads of other sports fans, without the horrible tribalism that comes when football is in the mix, is going to be brilliant.

Had my doubts about womans boxing at the start of the games but been proven completely wrong, its been fantastic and they are amazing athletes.

Bolt amazing again today, normally when someone is as dominating as Bolt, I am desperate for them to lose. However its impossible to not get behind Bolt, an amazing character.

Did anyone see the Taekwondo opening display the other night? I've been trying to find it on YouTube to show people it was amazing - athletes running across standing athletes' heads to kick blocks being held 20ft in the air, back flip kicks, and at one point a spinning athlete kicks out three blocks in different directions whilst somersaulting. Any idea where I can find the footage. BBC's footage was terrible - one locked off camera and no commentary.
