yes please.i had tickets to watch them in newport around 1994/5 time and they cancelled on the day of concert.still havent seen them.fair play to them tho,we got a refund and four tshirts in the post.

Yeah I don't see them headlining R&L, but with the increased tent size there may be a slightly brighter glimmer of hope.

I thought they backed out/turned it down as they wanted to tour the US and release a new album before coming to Europe? Although I guess that could be their way of doing it right, starting local before going global.

Also I'd be very sceptical about how set they were to Download.

I just had a thought pop into my head, with next year being the 20th anniversary of Nrivana headlining and Foos almost certs to play could FR book a grunge era band to add to the occasion with Soundgarden a possibilty?

That would be cool. I saw them twice on the North American tour this year and they were amazing. I hope R/L can snag them for next year

So Soundgarden are playing the first gigs outside the U.S for 15 years after being announced as headliners at the Big Day Out in Australia and New Zealand, They must be a shoe in for all of the European Festivals next summer, lets hope they play R & L.

If they do, I would think it has NME headliner written all over it. If not then Subbing Foo Fighters.

I think they're more likely to headline NME against a more modern act on the main, but I think they're even more likely to headline Download or Soni. Pulling a FNM and doing both would be great but that might be wishful thinking, they're likely to be in high demand and would also have to take any plans for Pearl Jam into consideration so two trips to the UK for just two festivals seems unlikely.

Yup your right, if Pearl Jam are doing nothing then I expect this could happen, if they are doing something then headlining Soni is what I see happening

OK, so Pearl Jam are touring Europe from 20/6-10/7, which rules Soundgarden out for Soni.

If they're going to play a UK festival it'll be a non-headline slot at Download, although that's ten days before the PJ tour starts so unlikely as Matt Cameron will probably already be rehearsing for PJ, or R&L at the end of the Summer (six weeks after the PJ tour ends, I'm guessing enough time to rehearse a set with Soundgarden).

Can we start to allow ourselves to believe that if they're going to play a UK festival, and surely this year they will what with a new album projected, it'll be R&L?

with something Soni said it sounded like they had them as well.

i'm as unsure about it as I can be but if it's R&L. I'd have thought they want a slot a bit more than NME headliner, don't think Download will have them as the reason's have been stated so a little stab at Foo Fighter Sub headliners?

its the only way they will play a fest this year, if not then probably maybe a tour in the fall of next year, and then maybe fests in 2013 (in before the worlds gonna end).

anyway i have no idea how they would go down but would love to see it happen.
