Glee

While definitely not the most inotive acts of all time, I now have gone from not bothered to also hopeing that Glee do play somewhere at Glastonbury! Just to stick it up all the musical snobs who can always be somewhere else, but at the same time want to deprive others of what they would like to see. Glastonburyis a performing arts festival and I think Glee do fall into this catagory somewhere )however loosly that term may be), if you dont want performing arts then ring Seetickets and tell them you will not be going to Glastonbury as it's dosent fit in with your own narrow musical tastes and you would like to go to a more narrowly musical genre event and then use the money you have saved to buy a ticket for Download! I suppose I will get flamed for this but, before you lay the commercialism bit at me, all (well virtually all) of the bands that appear at Glastonbury are commercial in that they want to sell records, make money and be rich.

I am not being serious about giving tickets back, but if you was to like only one or a small genre of music and do not want any other music to be at a festival then probally it is better catered for by festivals that specialize in particular types of music to the exclusion of any other such as download. What I like about Glastonbury is there is so much choice for me and everybody. Much as I despise X factor and everything it stands for even Glastonbury found room for Will Young, I for the record was certainly not to be seen anywhere near his performance.

On paper Glee is everything I'd love. I watched it for 10 minutes before turning over. Having heard a couple of their awful covers I obviously didn't make a mistake. And I could dance Vogue better than their pathetic effort.

If we're going to have covers bands I'd rather see something like Bootleg Beatles, Aussie (or Brit) Floyd, Easy All Stars or Hayseed Dixie.

Either do it right, do it different or don't bother doing it at all.

I am all for Glee at Glastonbury. Not just because I love it, but because it all adds to the event.

They aren't trying to be credible artists or claim musical genius for their work. Because they know as well as us that it is simply a show and they are doing what they are written. However you can't deny the talent of them as performers and the fact that it is pop culture. Nobody is saying headline the pyramid or anything silly. They could quite happily play a low pyramid slot, such as that of the English National Orchestra. It is a lazy comparison, but they are probably the easiest thing to compare the cast of Glee to.

I'd also point out that there's plenty of kids and younger people at the festival, that may not have the musical depth and knowledge of the people posting here, who would love it.

I'd also bet a good amount of adults would be there too, loving it.

I can't really see them doing it though, because I imagine their stage show requires a lot of set up/costume changes to have full effect.

I dunno what glee is really, and don't really give a f**k, but whenever I read the words 'music snob', I replace them with 'someone who likes good music'. Makes the board much more palatable.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
