ok just an idea never would happen but just a random thought.

ok how would how would you feel if glasto said they are putting aside half of 2013 tickets for people who have never been before!!!!

just wondering as glasto gets more and more attention on ticket day. how many people who have never been will never get the chance just due to the ammount of poeple who wish to return (like me) i am a firm beleaver in everyone should get the chance to go to one glasto. I am not having a go at poeple who go every year good luck to you but just wondering if people would think this would be fair??????

thanks

As Bradders says, it'd be impossible. You can easily register a new ticket number if that kind of rule came in. Sorting the system by name & address could work... but then if someone moves (as many young people frequently do every year) they could slip under the radar and it would ultimately be unfair.

Besides, I think the current system works well as it possibly can do. New blood is coming in every year.

New Blood is needed yes, and I think think quite lot get to go every year, however you cannot peanalise those who go year in year out, regardless of weather the year before, or whats looking to be a strong line up either.

So the fairest way is just a straight everyone tries for tickets.

The Mendip council Glastonbury Festival 2010 annual report stated:

The Festival's well informed friendly easy going mixed age group audience all contribute to the making of a safe festival in terms of crowd movements, although it does warn that with more younger and less Glastonbury Festival wise visitors they could have an impact on future crowd safety.

As soon as ticket day is announced my mates and I cancel everything to make sure we're around that Sunday morning. One of our group even put off going to the Ryder Cup this year, even though he'd got a ticket (for the golf not Glasto) to join in the Glasto ticket bunfight.

As it worked out the golf was rained off on the Sunday and Monday became the final day so he ended up with the best of both worlds.

If people 'go out' on ticket day they've no one to blame but themselves.

In answer to Kevs question, I would feel let down. I certainly wouldn't agree with a 'loyalty scheme' where us old timers who have been to Glasto loads of times are given preference.

There is no really bad fault with the ticket buying procedure in place. It's almost like a lottery. But where as a lottery every one (assuming they can buy one ticket each) has an equal chance of winning, you can lower your odds of getting a Glasto ticket by (not mentioning, dont go out for the day) getting friends to help you, using more than one connection - multiple computers etc. Some people may see that as unfair, but I like the way, the more desperate people are for a Glasto ticket, they deserve it, for trying harder.

This does not make sense. At the moment, everybody has the same chance of getting a ticket, conspiracy theories aside. If people who go every year received preferential treatment I could understand the question but this way you are likely to have newbs every year.

Oh whoops - sorry guys I should have explained that when I previously posed the question

"should I help my mate who went out on ticket day to get a ticket now - rather than maybe letting someone who waited at their pc for hours to have the chance to get one" (or something along those lines)....

....it was rexclark who pointed out quite rightly that everyone should have the opportunity to go so I should help her.

So I am.

Hope that's cleared it up.

Just take newbies with you each year if you feel newbies deserve a chance, that is what I been doing since 2008:

In 2008 I took 2 newbies with me.

I could not afford 2009 but my 2 friends loved it and took 2 other newbies with them that year.

2010 me and those 4 friends came and I took another newbie with me.

2011 we all got tickets and might be taking another newbie if she can get tickets in resell.

I'd take more newbies with me each year but is amazing how girls and metrosexual-ish dudes are with their 'eugh, 5 days without a shower? camping in a tent? not for me" is hard to explain Glastonbury with words and when you try they think you are high and a hippy or something, lol.
