I like Plastic beach as a piece of work. I think if they'd of done the set that did up at the Park to a smaller more upto date crowd it would have been brilliant. However as a pyramid headline performance it just didn't work, it didn't capture the casual fans

I think people still don't really know what Gorillaz is (are?). Is it an avant garde post pop ironic take on life? is it a band? is it a cartoon?

Their Glasto performance certainly didn't do much to sell the 'idea' very well. However good/bad they were, watching it on tv, without any of the atmosphere of the actual show (which was fairly minimalk from where I was), it looks like a confusing mish mash of not very much, really

is £50 that much for an arena tour?

gorillaz are set to cancel manchester show due to a lack of ticket sales...i have a friend who works for Manchester MEN and he told me theyre pulling the plug. bugger! its set to be public news anytime soon im afraid.

i wonder if the negative reports from the glasto gig have had an impact on theyre ticket sales?

Plus, there was someone near me who asked "who's that?" when they did 'Some Kind of Nature', I replied "Lou Reed" and they said "Who?" - tells you everything doesn't it?

And people tell me I'm nuts when I say that Prince isn't much relevant to a large part of today's Glastonbury crowd.:lol::lol:

Simple fact is that Reed has had a FAR greater impact on contemporary music than Prince has had.

People around me didn't recognise him, Mark E Smith and didn't appreciate half the f**king Clash on stage. Albarn pulled out all the stops that night it just wasn't being appreciated. That's also why you're right about Prince, the Glastonbury crowd wouldn't get him if they can't get ou Reed.

LOu Reed, phenomenally influential though he is, is not a name, is not a famous star. He doesn't sell out arenas, isn't huge among the general population, like somebody said about the VU, only a few people listened to them, but everybody who did formed a band. Influence and widespread recognition are clearly not the same thing.

Don't forget the VU played a lowish spot in 94, and it wasn't a big deal really. (and yeah, it wasn't very good, but that's another story..)

I agree that it wasn't a massive slot, but it WAS a big thing to those who know who VU are!!! (and crap, but as you say, another story [mainly using the words "everyone hates Lou"]).

BUT .... that was an act from old properly billed and time-slotted - something that doesn't seem to be the case with Prince if he's playing. ;)

Damon admitted it would have been better if he's introduced the guests.

For me, I knew who they were and could see them with the naked eye from the front and so knew which song was coming up.

For 95% of other people, 'Ladies and Gentlemen: Lou Reed' would have been a good idea.

    • Same as how reform have helped to fill up the prisons and then object to the govt trying to fix things (as long as the farage rioters don't get early release).
    • for some reason I put myself through the torture of another Harlen Coben thing on Netflix, this time "Caught".   at the end of it my only emotion was I hated the main character who was supposed to be the hero.   it was her fault that two people got killed, she walks around like the FBI when she just writes a bunch of crap for an internet blog, she takes no responsibility for her actions and for some bizarre reason nobody around her holds her to account.   at the end we are meant to think she is the hero of her righteous quest - but in reality she should be in prison awaiting trial on numerous charges.   still, in the end I got exactly what I expected from Harlen Coben so I guess I have no right to moan... I'm sat here typing this whilst he is sat in his swimming pool filled with cash...     I've come to think that all these Coben adaptations are in fact all the same program, and AI just pastes different faces on the characters for each "story".   🙂
