Just out of interest, people have said that this time last year the forecast wasn't good. So when did you see that the weather WAS going to be good after all? And was last years thread this intense too?

I have to say I am holding out for good weather - this crappy run of bad weather we are having atm cannot stay here for long - can it?

Yep, I definitely remember this time last year the forecast was looking a bit crap, and there was a great deal of intensity as we watched 2 possible weather fronts fighting it out in the predictions. I don't think the forecast became good until a few days before the festival, and even then there was a threat of rain- I don't think we foresaw how nice it turned out to be.

Also on the wet years before last year the forecast tended to look really good right up until the last week, and then suddenly got downgraded to sh*t! It was so frustrating.

So a bad forecast at this point is not necessarily a disaster- they key is to hope for the best but prepare yourself for the worst!

What the titty bollocks is up with you lot?

1. Its sufficiently far away right now to say, its still more of an unknown than anything else.

2. NO F*CKIN RAIN. NO F*CKIN COMPROMISE. This thread was a behemoth of positivity last year. Seemed to do the trick. Lets ave at it again!

Keep the faith!! :D:D;)

Alright folks, I've not been around much this year, mostly due to having a 6 month old to deal with, but also cause I have a new job and I get less time to spunk around on t'internet. I keep looking at this thread in disbelief, what happend to no rain no compromise, come guys pull yourselves together.....

This is very similar to last year and we had a belter, thanks in part to the excellent French v German forecasting sytem but also thanks to some serious sacrifices made by the users of this forum,

I seem to remember making a deal with the rain gods that I'd cycle to work everyday in the pouring rain for a good dry Glastonbury and I did and it was... I have already made the same deal but have not made it public until now.

I want everyone else to start making some serious sacrifices to the rain gods.... NOW!

Met Office update from around midday today (Saturday) :

UK Outlook for Thursday 16 Jun 2011 to Saturday 25 Jun 2011:

Rain or showers in most parts on Thursday and Friday this week. Some of the rain or showers may be heavy, with a chance of hail and thunder, with the greatest risk in the west. Some sunny periods between showery outbreaks. Moderate winds in most areas but strong, possibly gale force, in the west. Temperatures on the cool side, but nearer normal in the east. Next weekend and the start of the following week will see a few periods of drier and brighter weather, most likely in the south later, but often unsettled with further showers or rain. Continuing risk of strong winds in the west, and temperatures remaining cool. Staying unsettled for the rest of the period, possibly drier and slightly warmer in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Sunday 26 Jun 2011 to Sunday 10 Jul 2011:

Daytime temperatures are expected to be below average in the north and west of the UK during the period, but night temperatures will be around average. Cloud cover is likely to be extensive here with lower than average amounts of sunshine, and average levels of rainfall. In southern and southeastern areas, temperatures should generally be close to average, with sunshine amounts normal for the time of year. Rainfall will probably be less than average in these areas.
