WTF indeed, I did laugh outloud when I logged on, has just made me even more convinced that actually no one knows until a couple of days before, had one heavy shower today on Bodmin Moor, rest of the day great, but supposed to be wet all day by some forecasters! after 25 trips to Glastonbury I go with the what will be will be, and whatever it is, we will all still be going! but keep the thread going, Im reading it just for the laughs now :)

Right, we all need to do our bit. Things I'm doing: -

1) Last year I didn't hire a car with air con but Avis gave me a free upgrade. The air con was an utter godsend in the 10-hour queue to get in on Wednesday. But balls to it, I've gone for a non air-con car again. If it's sunny the sweat will be worth it.

2) Even though I work in Air Traffic and am very clear on how pointless it is forecasting this far ahead, I will torture myself by checking this thread at least once every day

3) I'm going to put my old avatar back on. It isn't meant to be offensive, it's an umbrella with a middle finger raised towards the rain. It helped last year.

I was going to agree, but then I realised my source is you from last year.

I did check it out though and the guy who set up and might still own MetCheck is inside for paedophile crimes.

That aside, MetCheck is sh1t. How they stay in business is beyond me. The likes of Accuweather take the same feeds as us and pretty them up which is a slightly dubious way to make money, but Metcheck somehow take this same data and turn it into a bizarre forecast.

If you think we had anything approaching "torrential" rain in 2008, then that must've been your first year. Certainly you can't have been within a hundred miles of Worthy Farm in 2005 or 2007.

2008 we had a bit of light rain for a few hours on Thursday late afternoon / evening. Then basically no notable rain for the rest of the fsestival. Even that tiny amount of water still had a big impact on the site, with grass disappearing rapidly.

I don't appreciate these attempts to justify that any amount of rain is acceptable at Glastonbury. It's not. Ever. Rain plus feet equals Mud. That's just basic science.

NFRNFC.

I see that since my rallying call earlier, there is still some of you 'orrible recruits is using the "R" word and thinking it might ruin our jollies.

NO!

Sort it out. NO *UCKING RAIN - NO *UCKING COMPROMISE.

Believe. Be strong. Don't give in to the weak and those who think a few showers is an acceptable result. Ww want wall to wall sun and that's it. Focus your minds. Want it. WANT IT!

It is coming, oh yes. It's coming.....

Eh?! One day out of the next five is forecast for rain. And it's been unseasonably dry for months. I really don't understand the panic. And this is someone who is a natural pessimist, who is currently working to a really tight deadline (whilst listening to The Cure) speaking!

Here in Wiltshire, we have had TORRENTIAL rain all week, and the worse is yet to come on Sunday. Just when I thought there was no more left in the sky, more is coming. I am getting mighty hacked off with it now - and its still cold! Temps at night are getting as low as 6 degrees here.

With not long to go now - please weather gods - push those horrible grey things away and let us see that glorious sun we know is hiding above it all!

I'm looking at this - http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weather/world-weather/city-weather/city/44X1258/shepton-mallet.html

Almost certain wet stuff on 6 of the next 7 days. I'm kinda cheered by the improving picture into Glasto week though.

My mood is improving, I feel like I've hit the bottom and I'm back on the rise. Am hoping the weather follows my lead.

And on that note:

    • Came here to post that.   Not based on any info, can just see it happening.
    • I'm not sure about the entrance but it wouldn't be a surprise to find the festival have secured use of the land from Steanbow who own it for either new CV space, or for authorised off-site camping as they did with Worthy View.  An authorised off-site pitch-your-own with decent facilities priced just below WV would fly off the shelves as an option.
    • Burnham needs to hold onto his seat , plus needs labour to hold onto all those other seats that could go Reform, so I think some blue labour stuff might stay...and it will be back to the tactic of hoping enough left/liberal voters will get behind labour and not go Green in order to stop a Reform govt...obviously wasn't working with Starmer, but might with Burnham if he shows enough leg. Have to see, Burnham is going from a cushty job where he's very popular and seen as successful to probably the most difficult job going, prime minister of this country...and his popularity might not last long when people realise he can't fix all the problems over night. What he can do is give a sense of direction and optimism which is badly needed, but he will also be faced with a whole bunch of nasty trade offs and could be where Starmer is now in a matter of months.
