You clearly don't understand the need for adverts AT ALL.

This site is only still here today because I've struggled by with my income cut by a huge amount, and because others have also taken a pay cut.

Have you taken a massive pay cut? Or are you breezing thru life not giving a shit about those you dump on and that you encourage others to dump on? Do you shout at the TV when adverts come on? So why a difference here?

You can have this site advert-free by taking /index.php?app=subscriptions">this option.

A mobile skin is automatically available - that has ads - for those using mobile devices.

If you or others are using this site without getting the ads then I'd rather you weren't here. This site cannot afford to support selfish self-centred freeloaders.

Yet again you'be excelled yourself.. I fully understand the use of advert.. just wanted a lofi version on tday like we use to have. To save b- width.....when its needed most.. I bought a t-shirt and a mug.. to help support you... sorry if that's not enough.. using adblock on tday seems the only option if you have no lofi.

Whatever you might have bought was a VERY long time ago. This site has costs every single day.

This site simply cannot afford to give freeloaders access to the detrement of those who aren't freeloaders. So I'll help you save bandwidth on Sunday, and ensure that you can't use here. Simples. :)

As far as I understand it the ads are hosted on different servers to this site and they serve ads to many sites like this, so they ought to be able to cope with the demand when this one site is being hit with a lot of traffic. If this site is slow to respond on Sunday, it shouldn't be the fault of the ads.

absolutely correct.

Interesting response to a simple question on lofi..

Except it wasn't a simple question of lo-fi was it? It was all about you believing that freeloading is on OK thing to do, and a statement that implies this site is coining it ("Yes i understand the need for adverts..... but on every post you open.. cmon") when the very opposite is true.

The ads are here because they are absolutely needed to fund this website. Without the ads - and at the number of ads that there are - this site cannot be here.

Pleasingly, not everyone has the same self-centred selfish attitude as you. And why should those decent people have their experience of efestivals lessened by your freeloading presence?

But if you selfishly used adbloc,(on Sunday only!) you would notice that pages load a hell of a lot quicker ..as less info to load... agreed y or n ?

The difference is so tiny for any broadband user that they won't notice it.

And if your attitude is mirrored all-round, there'd be nothing at all for you to load.

As you consider your bandwidth use of such great importance on Sunday (when it's not, but nevermind) I'll help you save it by ensuring that you can't load anything of interest from here.

That's not a joke BTW.

You are a sensitive chap...

Tell you what, shall I come round your gaff and rob you, seeing as you think it's an OK thing for you to do to others?

So why not just ban me now you prick.

because I'm giving the freeloading prick the opportunity to recognise the error of their ways.

I fully understand that you need the revenue... and understand where you are coming from. We draw swords yet again.. chillout. Yes this is your baby which has helped thousands I respect that..you have helped me get tickets since you started

As I said Neil its shame we can't have the Lo-fi option on ticket day... not everyone has a fast connection, some people live in the country side, so yes bwidth is precious. That doesn't make me a freeloader... well maybe just for one day ;-)

if you feel your bandwidth is of such importance to you, I don't understand why you'd come here at all. This site doesn't sell the tickets.

It's difficult to be chilled out when the income this site generates as fallen (due to the impact of the recession) significantly, to the extent that I'd be hugely better off on the dole, and others have seen their pay cut. Have you had your pay cut? Have you had to cut other people's pay?

I don't suppose that we'd be having this convo if you added a little thought to the impact of your actions. ;)

Shame you don't sell the tickets....here..

it's something that we very nearly managed to do the best part of ten years ago, but it seems that professional jealousy by a certain party got in the way. Anyway, that's long gone. In the days of the registration scheme, it's just not going to be possible. :(

Just wondering would it be worth makings members only, for a very small fee....... or would generate less income..not sure how the adverts work?

I'm absolutely certain that it would generate less income - just about all attempts at charging a subscription by other websites have been a failure outside of very specialist areas. For most people, there isn't really anything at efests that they couldn't get elsewhere for free (even if what they got was more effort to track down and prossiblyless accurate).

There is the option to have the forums ad-free - see:-

/index.php?app=subscriptions">http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/index.php?app=subscriptions

A little thought next time...if there is one?

While things ain't great business-wise things are being managed well enough for efests to be here for a while yet, that I'm certain of. :)

Hi Neil,

Not sure if it is relevant/or a business model that you could use, but the B&O fansite Beoworld manages a decent subscription level - based around a bronze/silver/gold tiered system.

In return, there is a monthly prize Draw as well as access to info not visible to guests(mainly donated prizes...you should be able to rustle up enough tix, memorabilia, advance info, etc etc that would justify an annual sub of £xx ??)

Back in the day, I not only bought a T shirt, I had the ISP and email "package" too.....
