they arent new... Green Day have been around for 21 years, Foos for about 15 - not really new. also foos arent the sort to use "eye shadow" - ive seen them live, but im inclined to agree about the other 2.

anyway the reason they are so good is because they offer alternatives to the indie that you hear 24/7 all over the radio. plus they have a lot of hits that people recognise.

Do you have any idea of the musical landscape of Indie at the moment or do you just post shit and hope it sticks?? If you did you'd know that it has been on a slow decline in the mainstream lately and sales have dropped in the past year (approx 30-35%) whilst other genres such as RnB and Pop have posted increases of a similar percentage. There have been a few Indie groups coming through onto Radio 1 continously but generally there are less than a few years. Your using an argument that could've been used in 2006 when labels signed a large amount of dross when Indie sold fairly well, but the landscape in 2010 is a lot different. I've actually listened to Radio 1 a few mornings this week due to having no ipod atm and the shit they've played that I've heard is Girls kill boy, YM@6 and Paramore. Theres hardly a mass of Indie. 24/7 all over the radio. Utter bollocks.

And you having an argument with a guy about Oasis and then bringing up Foo Fighters with the line "the reason they are so good"! An idiotic statement if I ever did see one. FF have brought album after album of half decent material never having the ability to reach a greater height. They've never made a classic album, or a great one for that matter and never will in their career. I don't think I've even seen a review of any of their albums that has achieved over 8/10. Bands such as Joy Division and the Sex Pistols achieved more in such a short space of time than Foo Fighters will ever achieve. At least Oasis had them first 2 classic albums! Green Day are similar but a bit better at what they're doing where as MCR are just poor.

the clash top band no dout about that. just not as good as oasis.why i say beacuse the clash are a punck rock band who do punck rock songs thats it really bit one dimensional wich is harsh but true. were as with liams amazing rock voice an noels amazing sole voice they have alot more dimension wich means they have more ability.

Oasis do similar-ish rock songs.

The Clash developed over their albums using a variety of styles. Listen to Sandinista! and say that's just one dimensional? Is Armagideon Time "punk rock"? Oh and you mention Oasis have two vocalists... you mean like the Clash with Strummer and then Jones (or three if you count Simonon on Guns of Brixton)?

I know music is about tastes, but really that post is bullshit. Oasis are the most one dimensional band around. Two very good albums with that dimension but nowhere near the variety of The Clash.

I hope you're trolling.

oasis were the best band to come out of england after the beatles. guns n roese where massively influential in the mid 80s when slash was cutting thew axls vocals with that gibson les paul. an why because theres no other bands like them. they had soo much ability they made out they just didnt care. an you say arcade fire has anything on them. abousley no chance.

Must be a troll I guess.

Morning Glory has nothing on any of the first three or four Clash albums. And actually what poll are you on about for greatst album? Because most don't see Oasis anywhere near but London Calling is usually very near the top ten...

Although by using the sales argument I'm wasting my time, you're a troll.

I'll ignore the pissed up wannabe working class heroes with god complexes and sh*t one dimensional songs just for a second and move onto guns n roses instead. They were not original and influential. They were basically copying the even more shit Motley Crue and trying to be the Rolling Stones. Not to mention Hanoi Rocks, who they completely ripped off. So actually there are lots and lots of other bands like them.

And as for their influence, it was crushed within a few years by the arrival of Nirvana, along with that entire branch of OTT cock-rock.

And I don't think I can add anything to Oasis that hasn't been said already. They're fine for 15 year olds and football hooligans, but anyone else should be ignoring them.

The Clash have had a major influence across various genres, and I can safely say that Arcade Fire will be remebered for at least decades to come.
