Yeah I think he's right in saying that there was a lack of 'interaction' but I still thought it was as good performance? I wasn't a huge Gorillaz fan before Glasto but went along to see what they were like! Started listening to their back catalogue so I suppose they managed to convert me! Considering though that they had to step in pretty last minute, and the number of people they had on stage - I thought they did pretty well! :D

Fair play to Damon. At least hes willing to improve the gig. Introducing the guests is a good start.

and as Dull as it was, it was still better than Oasis in 04. That was just embarrassing.

I really couldn't care less about singers being introudced on stage and crowd interaction. Would this really make a performance better? Those cliched cheesie crowd interaction moments should be omitted. It's about the songs, and how well they're performend, and the carisma of the artists.

I think the Gorillaz performance has exposed what people expect from a headline slot. Essentially they just want big hits.

crowd interaction is important. really adds to a show and shows that the band care.

i went to see incubus and brandon spoke to the crowd twice and it was only to say thanks and he refered to the crowd as children. was a bit shitty!

True, and increasingly so. I think it's good to see him taking on board what happened and continuing to evolve though. Festival sets given the mixed nature of the crowd, and often the size, do need a slightly different approach to a 'home' gig IMHO

Would just like to clarify that I love the Gorillaz (seeing them on their tour in Sept),and I think it is a shame that all the average pyramid audience demand is as many top 10 hits as possible.

Its good to see hes learning how to develop/evolve the show. (even though its bit by bit)

Its funny, normally the Friday night is the night i go see something "different" as in a non pyramid/other stage band maybe jazz world or the glade or some such, but i actually got with gorrillaz, a Jazz world set, which i would normally go see, so all in all i was pretty happy. i can see why some folks werent to keen, but horses for courses etc etc.....

I went to see them out of curiosity. I think they put on a good show, but to be honest did not do much for me. I am glad I saw them though. Not being a Rap fan obviously there were a few tracks I was not bothered about. A young teen beside me though seemed to be a fan and really enjoyed it.

Take care

As I said in the other thread, I really really enjoyed it. It was more of a spectacle than a standard headlining set, the video on the screens kinda gave it a different feel which was great.

Thankfully I was also next to someone else who was just as excited as I was when Lou Reed or Snoop or whoever came on, knew all the words etc etc.

Like lots on people on this thread I thought it was one of the most unique and special shows Ive ever seen. Great that he confirms he's on for more work with Blur aswell.
