United's lack of creativity in and around the box is frightening!!

This is true for the first team, and now this second string one as well (which could be expected though)

A certain Mr W Sneijder could help the situation a great deal ;)

I think you're missing a large wedge or sarcasm all round Neil, from people on here anyway. The Sneijder boat has sailed, Fergie/Utd dropped the ball, as did every other manager except Mourinho. He went for 12 million! Madness.

Despite what the papers say about Sneijder, Schweinsteiger etc, I think Fergie will go with youth. He mentioned a three year plan yesterday. Utd are in a transitional phase now again, no doubt.

oh c'mon - you've surely noticed in his posts last week that st dan doesn't do sarcasm, he only does OU. ;)

And your take on things gets to pretty much match what I've suggested - after all, if Rooney isn't getting the mega-players he's supposedly been promised then he's going out of the door.

I wouldnt like to see Utd go out and spend 100s of millions on players anyway. I dont think that model is good for football clubs long term. As City will find out Im sure. They will win things, no doubts, but where will they be in 10 years?

while I agree and don't think it's a good model either, Chelsea seemed to have successfully moved away from being a mega-bucks spending club - tho of course what happens when many of those stars retire or get too old for Chelsea has yet to be seen. But to date they've lost a few of the megas and not replaced them with other big spends, so they might have changed their model successfully.

Shitty are in a better position than most to change things to a sustainable model somewhere down the line cos of their stadium size (and not needing a new stadium, like LFC) plus the plans they have in place already to expand it. Tho set against that is them being unfashionable, but that will change soon enough when the trophies come just as it did with Chelsea.

Defour will go to Man U next summer (maybe even January?), dont think theres any chance on sneijder.

I just saw in the beeb footie gossip he'd said he'd go to Utd, but he's said similar about a number of Prem clubs in the past and is still at Liege - so I'm not sure that too much can be taken from his words.

I can see Schweinsteiger coming to the premier league in the future, I'd love to see him at Chelsea one day.

did you see the goal he scored last night? A real cracker!

well my boro friend on twitter is in disbelief. glad you are optimistic. it won't last :)

Hmmmm .... not sure such a blanket statement is applicable for any manager at any point.

While there's undoubtedly managers who are better at it than others, it's also the case that highly regarded managers can flop and those regarded as not-good can suddenly have success at a different club.

So it's clearly the case that the circumstances around any manager (the way the club works, whether his personality fits with the players he has, etc) are a big part of any success or failure, as well as what that manager specifically does.

Mowbray is a weird one tho. I'm not clued up on all of his managerial career, but he did very well with WBA in getting them to the Prem, so it's more than possible he could do the same with Boro. The main problem as I see it tho is that Boro has so many players he's sold when at Celtic, and it's not going to be easy for those players or him to sort that into something that works.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
