It's one thing posturing, but suggesting riots on the streets of London is fruitcake land.

If you're going to posture, then it needs to be posturing that people can relate to as having a basis in reality.

Him throwing his toys out of the pram because his big plan to make loads of dosh out of WHU risks losing out to another person with a similar idea certainly isn't that.

The FA have decided the next manager of the English national team will be English.

actually, they haven't (or they did and then withdrew it, I forget).

How many English managers are there out there who are better than McLaren and have experience of football outside of England?

Woy is about all there is with overseas experience.

But the point really is whether the FA would have the guts to re-appoint McLaren - and its clear as day that they never will, at least not until after he's returned to England and managed a top side successfully (if it ever happens).

Barring a screamer from Petric and/or a fumble by Carson, England would have qualified for Euro 2008 and done no worse than most England managers in recent tournaments. I.e. not got very far.

England were shit all through the WC.

That wasn't the case under McClaren (apol CBC). We kept clean sheets in 9 of our 12 group matches, conceded the least amount of goals in the group, averaged 2 goals a game, etc etc.

About a year behind where Liverpool are the way things are going. Utd fans protesting against American owners. Sounds so familiar. In six months time, the papers will be able to take the Liverpool articles and just copy "Man Utd" in instead.

Yep, dreadful.

Tho I'm highly amused at how the loss has happened - essentially it's cost Utd £80M for them to raise £500M thru the bond issue. Which has got to be just about the worst bit of business ever done by anyone anywhere in the world ever.

The bond issue was meant to make things better financially, not f**k them up even more than they already are.

Liverpool are likely to face a nine-point deduction if its parent company Kop Holdings goes into administration next week, BBC Sport understands.

League rules say a points deduction can be used if a parent company insolvency is caused by the club's management.

Sources suggest owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett would struggle to argue that the running of the football club had not affected the holding company.

Liverpool could enter administration if a sale is not agreed by 15 October.

it ain't gonna happen. If RBS put Liverpool into admin, all they'd be doing is ensuring they wouldn't get all their money back.

The deal that's been agreed will more than likely go thru, cos the paperwork is in favour of the Chairman and not the owners - and no court will overturn a company's articles of association which everyone freely signed up to.

The deal might not go thru quite by the RBS deadline, but as I say they'd just be shooting themselves - so they certainly won't force anything to happen until after the issues around that are wrapped up, and they won't ask for the penalty to be paid unless the club is still in the ownership of Hicks and Gillet.

The penalty is there not to cream in as much money as possible, but as a way to try and get the loans paid back. If they insist on the penalty then they won't get the loan paid back, either quickly or in full.
