You missed out the for the highest price they could get. The profit motive. No doubt that omission was deliberate. You also took at face value (pun intended) their claim that they could no longer attend, but that's neither here nor there in this particular discussion. But your definition of capitalism is an oddly restrictive one to start off with.

Don't worry about the original English, it went quite well with the shit point you were trying to make.

I walk my dog.

I love my kids.

If I sell or buy something I try to do both at a fair price and resist making or giving excessive profits.

I buy Fair Trade products whenever possible.

I donate to charity a significant part of my net worth each year.

.....BOLD... note: living in a capitalist society it is not possible to be totally isolated from the wheels of capitalism. I never claimed I was. .....BOLD....

What an odd question.

Wow theres people who go to gigs and festivals who actually defend touts? WTH?! Most points have already been said, but if you like touting I am sure you can find an event where only the richest go as that is what your basically saying Glastonbury should do by touting, why not cut the middle men and just have glastonbury acept the largest bids on tickets, maybe a few would get lucky and get it at a price they could afford? I am sure the crowd would be brilliant!

So I wrote to ebay asking what is their policy concerning the sale of Glastonbury tickets. This is the reply I got:

My name is Johnny and I'll be happy to resolve your concern about

Glastonbury festival tickets listing.

Please note that we prohibit all tickets are not permited to be resold

and is not in line with ticket issuing authority. You did the right

thing by reporting this to us, unfortunately you have not provided me

with item numbers to reference these listings. Please reply to this

email including the item number in question. If you are unable to locate

the item number, please write back with the following information to

assist us search our records:

1. The seller's ID

2. A description of the item

3. Any other information you feel is relevant.

OR

You can do this by clicking the 'Report item' link at the bottom of the

item page.

I hope this information helps you decide how to proceed in this

situation. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Kind regards,

Johnny Bower

eBay Trust & Safety

I wrote back saying what bollocks that you prohibit the sale of tickets as at present there are at least 34 on sale on Ebay right now.

I also said why should it be up to me to report these listings to you when they are not hard to find.

Maybe just maybe the Glastonbury ticket listings will dissappear shortly.

Don't hold your breath.

Fair play to jameshunt here. Completely agree with all his points. He is also showing incredible resilience and tolerance to maintain this discussion with people who are clearly, with respect, total thickos.

A stern salute in your direction, jameshunt.

I think the point that some of the 'total thickos', as you eloquently deemed them, have been making is that although touting is obviously wrong and detrimental to both the ethos and clientele that Glastonbury will attract in the future, the use of hyperbole is making the original (morally right) outrage look bloody deranged.

So, hypothetically, if someone was to spend, say, half an hour of their time reporting to ebay the tickets for glasto that weren't being sold at near face value, would they be saint or sinner?

I await my judgement.

Hypothetically of course.

    • Was volunteering at the Women’s Cricket World Cup at Southampton yesterday. Was great fun.
    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
