I have laid out my views, also pointed out the fact I have given away a glasto ticket this year for free and then been called a mug for it.

They seem to simply disprove of principles and morals....

Or they just dont understand there are people in this world who dont like the idea of profiteering when the rules say dont do it and there is no need for it..

I am super happy that I am taking somebody this year for free, they will have a brilliant time as its there first glasto and that is more than enough reward for me.

It reminds me of the big argument on here the other year where some people were saying it is fine to drop litter at the festival and leave your tent behind when you leave as people are employed to pick it up and all the mess is cleared up anyway.

Deliberately exaggerating for effect.

We all know that "scum" is a stronger word than is entirely appropriate, but we use it because it's fun.

I posted on the weather thread a while back about the guy behind Metcheck having been convicted of child rape. It got barely a response. People seemed to not give a dam.

But someone dares sell a Glasters ticket, something they are legally entitled to do, and all hell breaks loose.

You lot have a weird sense of priority.

Probably because they are very different things and maybe because the guy behind Metcheck being convicted of an offense has no bearing whatsoever on Metcheck or their ability to forecast the weather. If he'd set up the site to meet kids or get in touch with Gary Glitter then I could see how this could make people angry but he didn't, he's just a bad man. Plus I think everyone is in agreement that people like that really are nasty people and that there is nothing that needs to be said, the touting issue however seems to have polarised opinions somewhat with large numbers of the anti's getting very very worked up about it, hence the many many pages of people making the same arguments!

I do agree though that things needs to be kept in perspective. Whilst I'm certainly no fan of touts and I think that music would be better without them at the end of the day they are always going to exist. When there is something as popular as Glastonbury there will always be people out there looking to exploit the unfortunate people who couldn't get a ticket, its basic supply and demand. As long as people are prepared to buy from touts, touts will always be here. The only way to stop them is to refuse to use them but unfortunately some people aren't prepared to do that.

I repeat again before anyone bites my head of that I'm no fan of touting but I do think labelling someone trying to make a bit of cash doing something totally legal as sub-human scum is going a little bit too far. Yes its not good for us or the festival but there are far worse things going on in the world that deserve our attention and anger such as the blockade of Palestine, Piers Morgan, the continuing success of Scouting for Girls, the number of people dying from preventable diseases such as malaria and TB etc etc.

No one like touts but lets all just chill out for a minute and look at the wider picture, we might not like them but is it really OK to spout all this hatred just because someone doesn't have the exact same morals as we do?

Eavis has devised a system to stop them, it would seem the only weakness in the system is the checking at the gate, if that were improved no one would get in on someone elses ticket, therefore no touting. When you buy the ticket you enter into a contract and the t&cs state clearly the tickets are non-transferable, you have NO legal right to sell them.

Firstly touting itself as a whole isn't illegal, I wasn't refering specifically to Glastonbury.

Also touts will ALWAYS find a way around the system, everyone thought that putting pictures on the tickets would stop it dead, clearly it hasn't.
