how does it work? is it like a semi-circle, once its full its one out one in? or is it just a straight fence in the middle of the pyramid field to stop crowds surging forwards and you can freely go either left or right of it to get infront of it...

just wondering as i would like to be infront of it for muse's headline set, so predicting how early i will have to be their to get infront of it, ive already come to terms with the fact im going to have to watch scissor sisters :P but if its one out one in, it may be the case i have to be in their even earlier....

Its a curved fence with a large opening at each side, there will probably be a reasonable change over of people at the end of Scissor Sisters (heading round for PSB) therefore if you are reasonably close you should be ok

i thought they were more a staple at hard rock/metal festivals?

must be due to people getting crushed, i believe somebody died at a limp bizkit concert once? possibly pearl jam aswell?

but is it really that dangerous at glastonbury? i doubt theres going to be mosh pits and wall of deaths? but i guess as the pyramid can cater for 80000ish(?) people it probably needs to be there... ive been in bad crowd crushes and they really arent nice...

Prodigy last year was quite bad for me I got well and truely squished that was at the other stage - theres no barrier there.

also at the park last year on the thursday night live radio 1 show (the only thing on at the time). The guy infront of me kept elbowing me in the face I ended up dancing outside the tent when that amazing lightning storm was going. The only thing was I had a massive brolly with a perfect lightning rod on top of it :P

Thank god there was a barrier last year as I got caught in the middle of the 'mosh pit' for Kasabian - everyone around was taller than me and im not a midget, but I ended up literally shoving people out the way as I couldnt breathe :P It does get chocka in there but its easy to get through if you need to, last year I went in in the middle of Kasabian and got to the front for Bruce (not in the centre but to the side and there was plenty of space to chill out)

crush barrier's and the Police are two things you don't need until something goes wrong and if it does go wrong you are thankful they are there.

I was at a party some years ago and there was lots of Hell's angels types { please note they were not hells angels but one of their off shoots but will not list which chapter }

Anyway at one point this joker standing next to me said ' raise your glass we have just heard a Pig has been killed on duty '

Call me a old fool but coming from Glasgow I will stand my ground if I need to .

I refused point blank because I think our society would not function without the Police and as he was not drunk or stoned I told him so

Anyway we had a discussion and he came out with the old mantra that the Police fit people up etc etc but as I knew one of his Friends a lot better I did know he was in a bike crash a few months before so I asked him what happened - well the pigs showed up - helped out and then the ambulance showed up -

This guy was so against the Police that even when they helped him out he had that attitude.

I am sure there is still some people who regret the Police being allowed into Glastonbury { I recall what it was like before then }

While I would never dream of wandering to the front of the stage the crush barrier's have made it a lot safer a I am sure we don't want to see the same disasters that has happened at other events.

We sometimes forget that there is a huge army of Emergency services on tap at a moments notice and full praise to them - not forgetting The Samaritans - { and the other Welfare units } lucky enough I have never been so far out to need them but they do a fine job as it cant be easy dealing with a person who has gone off his head at 3 am .

So let me reverse the toast

raise your glass to the Emergency services at Glastonbury { including the stewards and security { fire watchers etc etc } }

    • One problem could be that many of the hospitality packages are already sold out. Unless you’ve a media contact, media organisations normally get a hospitality allocation.
    • I agree on WA taking a year off in 2027. But if they got the call from R&L could see them having a similar August to what Fontaines are doing now. A few random shows + 2/3 other festivals. The festival/LN does seem to love them as well so there is a chance they take a punt.   I did see about Rodrigo potentially doing a stadium in Poland but no clue if that would be 2027 or 2028, I just can't see her at the Fest at all, seems too big in current climate.   If I were to guess the headliners next year I'd go with Fred Again/Foos/Capaldi/Olivia Dean/Biffy or Wolf Alice/Some Rapper, Tems?
    • Ulitimately the “Top 6” or top 2 on a day by day basis work as a collective   You could easily have Foo Fighters and someone else much weaker on a single day   As long as they add up to 3, whether they’re a 2 and 1 or both 1.5s it doesn’t really matter   The Florence- Chase and status day is basically a 1.5 and 1, hence it selling the weakest
