Well this is a pile of shit - the reason we're in such a f**king mess is because complete old guard 'I've always voted Labour' cock-ends have continued to vote for them even when Blair turned them into the Tory party. They effectively empowered Blair to take the entire country to the right - nice job you morons.

A few New Labour achievements - Pushing the database state, detaining aged hecklers at a party conference under terrorism legislation (no chance of this government abusing any powers we let them have is there?), the richest people in the country paying no tax whatsoever (non-doms), PFI (don't get me started - my children will still be paying big business through the nose long after I am gone thanks to this nightmare), 3,500 new crimes (and counting) - most of which are complete bollocks, maintaining an unregulated financial services industry (a principal cause for the economic f**kup we are now in and are paying for - it might have been initiatied by Thatcher but it was maintained by Blair/Brown), selling the UK gold reserves at bottom dollar (nice one Gordon you financial genius), need I mention Blair invoving us in the Iraq war (no-one has explained to me yet how an elected PM in the UK has the moral authority to take a decision that results in the death of >100,000 Iraqis)...and on and on and on...these guys are close to making Thatcher (may she burn in hell) look like a mere simpleton

So my question is - how many Grade A, 24 carat cluster f**ks does New Labour have to make before people snap out of the two party them and us bullshit. Wake the f**k up - vote anyone but Labour or Tory - a hung parliament and subsequent significant electoral reform is the only thing that can save us.

I really makes me piss myself when I hear people who voted for Blair banging on about how bad Thatcher was. PFI, Database state and on and on and on - Thatcher would have let out a bit of wee with excitement if she'd thought she could have got away with policies like PFI - cutting a HUGE slice of public funds not just for now but for the next 30+ years and giving it to big business. It took a wolf in sheep's clothing to pull it off.

For those that have been paying attention, tory policy is to hugely increase the amount of taxpayers money that is channelled into private pockets in a similar way, via their plans for as many public services as possible to be run by private enterprise .... there's only two areas that have remained relatively untouched so far by this Thatcherite idea, which are schools & hospitals - the two things which Dave Moron is targeting for this treatment if he gains power.

And it's actually worse than just that - it also includes a way for the tory toffs to still have their kids go thru private schools (the new ones he wants to create with funds taken from state schools), but to have the taxpayer pay the bills of that for them.

Shame on the people who aren't voting for anyone. That's how the BNP got into European parliament. The same number of idiots voted for them, it's just that the voting turn out was so bad that the votes they got were enough this time. That's my first point: just vote! Even a vote for the Tories would be better than not voting at all!!!!!!! There must be one party you'd prefer to get a seat more than the BNP.

Secondly, i hope people vote for labour. If you're working class and you're voting for the Tories you're a fool. Do you remember what they did to us last time they were in? Labour has done a lot for us and the Tories will send all that to pot. They'll screw the workers over again just like they did to the miners. Labour won't be perfect, but who else can you vote for? A vote for the Lib Dems or the Green Party is essentially a vote for the Tories.

So, to summarise:

1. Vote! Make sure the BNP don't get a foot in the door.

2. If you're going to vote sensibly, vote Labour.

The problem with the constituency system is that the vast majority of people live in areas that are either so rock solid Labour or Conservative that their vote is unlikely to make much difference.

My party of choice has zilch chance where I live so I've got to either vote tactically for someone who I don't really support but who has a chance or stick to my principles even though I know my preferred candidate has no chance.

I'll end up doing what I always do, sticking to my principles and voting for who I believe in. But it will be sad to know I'm just going through the motions and my vote will have no impact on the outcome.

In the end the make up of the next parliament will probably be decided by a handful of floating voters in a small number of marginal constituencies. Maybe we should just send them out to vote and the rest of us could stay at home and they'd save a lot of money.

Okay, let's assume everything you have said is true. Does that justify voting the Tories in? Because if it's not Labour then it WILL be the Tories. Alas I cannot vote this year as I'm not 18 until a month after the election date.

However, if I could vote it would most certainly go to the Lib Dems. I think this is an exciting year for them as people are obviously becoming fed up with Labour and I think the Tories still come across as slightly slimy (they do to me anyway). It would be interesting to see what would happen if they were in a coalition with Labour/Tories and what they would do.

Recession caused by financial institutions making bad loans, they were allowed to do so due to derugaltion of financial markets, who deregulated ? Labour government in the UK, followed soon after by the USA. who took the UK lead on it.
