Got a funny story about Carl

The other year he played a solo set at Escobars in Wakefield. That night a coat belonging to one of the

staff went missing.

The following day the phone rang

"Hi I'm Carl Barat ! "

"Yeah OK , who are you really ! " sort of thing

Turns out Carl had somehow got hold of the coat and taken it back to his room , but made sure

the owner got it back.

Also someone posted last year that they were at the Stone Circle with their b/f and Carl wandered

up and sat with em and played some accoustic numbers for em. I am sure there is a photo somewhere.

Smack money isn't the only thing Peter would get out of bed for. I'm suprised nobody else has mentioned that Reading/Leeds was the only UK gig The Libs did without him in 2004 - Carl didn't want to do any (they cancelled Glastonbury, Meltdown and a fair few others) but they were already contracted for Reading/Leeds and couldn't get out of it. Peter would have have done this slot for 10p any time since - although he's obviously not displeased about the insane amount of money they're getting. He spent most of the time he was doing press for Grace Wastelands banging on about a Libs reunion and now he's got it. So bar actually being at Her Majesty's pleasure, he'll turn up.

erm ... I'm pretty sure you're wrong!

I saw the Libs without Pete at T in the Park, and while I'm not 100% sure that was 2004, it was certainly after the point that Pete had been kicked out and that they were doing shows without him.

So it seems they cant play as the libertines at Glastonbury but is there anything stopping them for a pete and carl set on the leftfield? That way they arnt the libertines or it could be cart barat and guests?

It's a Carl 'solo' show. It's not a Carl & Pete show.

Carl has his solo album to promote. It's for that reason that the Libs defo weren't going to happen this year until stupid amounts of money started being chucked their way.

    • I had a great time yesterday and came to the conclusion that everytime (or, more accurately, both times) I didn't have a great time at Primavera, it was water-related. Either there was too much of it (Thursday 2026) or there wasn't enough (Thursday 2022, week 1).
    • I sacrificed the first hour of the cure for Role model yesterday and oh man that was a good bet! That guy and his band are insanely good and an hour long only bangers!

    • Possibly not as there are chair size restrictions in the seated area, for the guidelines see here -  https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/bring   Have a look into applying for Access and I would recommend contacting them for further advice before buying a ticket - https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/access  They should also be able to answer if you can take a wheelchair into the seated area 🙂
