I have no shame. I find it hard to think of going to any music that I would be embarrassed to admit to. I've been to some cheesy stuff in the past, for example Neil Diamond a couple of times, Gene Pitney and Neil Sedaka but I have no shame or regrets. In all cases they were stunning, polished performances by artists then at their peak.

I also remember seeing Shirley Bassey in her prime when she did a Cardiff show when I was in the second row of the circle - the whole of the front row was taken up by her mum, family and friends.

I do have some regrets, seeing people who were once great but latterly reduced to rubble. For example Peter Green a few weeks ago.

I've only once walked out of a gig and that was Mick Taylor (ex Stones & John Mayall) who was just boooooring and unconnected with the audience.

Divine Miss M; Bette Middler at the Paladium in the late 70ies; She was brilliant!

Rick Astley a couple of years ago in Manchester; great voice, sang more jazzy sort of stuff and did a wonderful send up of himself and Stock-Aiken-Waterman songs!

Neil Diamond at Woburn Abbey in 1977, well before he became Glastonbury cool!

Travis at MEN in 2002, only because I wanted to see Doves, who were in support.

Del Amitri at the Manchester Acadamy, only because I wanted to see the amazing Cousteau. Must confess I actually really liked Del Amitri too!

Neil Sedaka, twice........ now that is Cordon Bleu cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a deep seated passion for The Sugababe's and have all their albums, However I feel they lost it when Mutya left.....

Angels with Dirty Faces is by far the best for me though.

Scooter is also a regular on my play lists, endless albums of fun there...

Aled Jones is also on when I am in reflective moments, his early quire boy albums for those for peaceful times and his more raunchy later staff for when I need a little pick up... He has a massive catalogue to choose from.

Impressively uncool pukkaone.

I love a whole gamut of uncool... loved Manilow since I was a kid listening to Bauhaus & ELO... he and Abba were secret favourites. I think it's easier to admit uncoolnes of many years ago though... much harder to admit those current very active artists that are subject to the uncool label... and of course the way NME loves to build 'em up and knock 'em down there's many cool artists who will be uncool tomorrow. Gaga seems a likely candidate, not that I much care for her meself. I could name loads of old uncools like Sheena Easton or Dollar (whom I still love) but more recently I guess Keane are often labelled that way at the mo, so there's one..

Almost my entire record collection is usually deemed uncool by most of my friends but I could careless :P

I check every year to see if there is a Glastonbury shaped hole in David Essex's tour schedule but alas I fear he maybe just tooo cool for a festival now :P I'd also like to see Def Leppard, Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Asia, Marillion (fish not hogarth), Kansas, Toto and Heart. I'd also like to see Lionel Richie no idea why but I bet he'd be good :P

Really?

You have seen my songkick list of shame :P

I still have a letter from her manager inviting me to the gig at Wolverhampton that was filmed.

I wouldnt mind catching her with Robert Fripp. His/Her tour that is.

    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
    • I reckon it'll be deftones and Biffy clyro
    • If Friko are replacing The Beths that's a very rare example of a band being replaced by another band who I'm equally eager to see. Great news.
