Download Headliners

RATM are fantastic live and one of my favourite bands of all time. Would love to see them again.

AC/DC, I've been meaning to see for ages.

And I can imagine Aerosmith being a laugh to watch.

and this year we see that Download has completely destroyed Glastonbury's major headliners by booking AC/DC and Aerosmith, with a newly reformed Steven Tyler on vocals!!

But looking purely on a headliner's basis, i think Glastonbury's anniversary will be completely outshined by Download's... and would much prefere it if the headliners swapped places. ( with the exception of rage for stevie wonder ... i can't wait to watch him and i doubt he'd go down too great with all the metal heads)

Only seen RATM at GF in 94, never forget it, one of my all time highlights. Saw AC/DC at their one-off in the Hammersmith Apollo about 6 yeasr ago, again one of the most memorable gigs of all time. Never seen Aerosmith but would be well worth a look. Saw Motorhead at Download a couple of years ago, always a good craic. Not seen Them Crooked Vultures yet....but need to.

seriously thinking about breaking open the piggy bank for Download.....

I'm a bit of a regular at Download and to the comment it's just a field like Leeds, that's a bit bollocks.

I've been to Leeds too, but the atmosphere at Download is brilliant. Best fest I've ever been to!

One man's meat is another man's poison, but for me a big gig in a car park or a sprawling multicultural assault on the senses on a 900-acre site in the heart of the Vale of Avalon, is not a difficult decision to make and certainly not one I'd make based on three headline acts. As a footnote to that, I'd rather prise my eyeballs out with a rusty spoon and force-feed them to myself than pay to watch Aerosmith.

The reality is no festival can buy the delights that is the stone circle at sunrise or sunset or anytime really .

Headliners dont really come into it. They are just a bonus really you could go to GF and not see a big stage act & still have the best weekend ever.

Wouldn't have minded seeing Aerosmith in there prime but don't really fancy it much now. I have to say for the first time I'm quite impressed with Downloads headliners, it's just all the shite below them that would make me not want to go.

Doing Glasto this year thats a given. But this Download line up does look fantastic, I have never gone to festivals based on the headlinners but AC/DC and Rage is making me part with my money. I'm not an areosmith fan but its a strong booking also. I expect Glasto to be better but I need to get my heavy metal hit somewhere!

The thing with Download is it may have 3 great headliners, but underneath it all the music is all pretty samey and one-dimensional (metal/nu-metal/emo mainly). It's grand if you like that kind of thing, but it seems like the same bands come back again and again with only the headliners changing. Glasto will have much more to offer than the top bands, which I doubt will be true for Download.

RATM. The irony of seeing them at Glastonbury in 93 or 94 and watching a whole field full of people joining in with singing 'f**k me I won't do what you tell me' in total unison has not been lost on me.

The thing is, although I've never been, Download strikes me as a festival for music fans, if you know what I mean? Like, everyone who goes there is passionate about music, unlike a number of the Reading/Leeds lot who go because it's the "in" thing.

All I can say is that I have a Glasto ticket and am well raging now because of the Download announcement. I haven't realy heard of any decent rumours for Glastonbury yet or anything music wise to get me overly excited.
