Hot Chip have dropped a huge hint that they will be playing at this year's Glastonbury festival.

The event, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2010, takes place between 23-27 June at Pilton Farm.

Lead singer Alexis Taylor said: "You'll potentially see us in the Somerset area of the UK around the end of June I'd imagine.

"I have been to that part of the world and enjoyed being there. Nice cider there, good music and good atmosphere."

Hot Chip, who release their fourth studio album One Life Stand on 1 February, last appeared at the festival in 2008.

Tickets for Glastonbury 2010 have sold out.

Fingers crossed they may play under the stars so everyone can see them instead of being stuck in a busy tent like the John Peel.

This makes me very happy

Their set in 2008 was utterly brilliant. Full on party, the whole crowd was smiling and dancing, and they were the very best I've ever seen them. Totally rose to the occasion.

The ending of Over and Over/Ready for the Floor/Privacy of our Love that turned into a cover of Nothing Compares 2 U put me in an amazing mood for Jay-Z; and I was pretty psyched to begin with!

Would be happy with them in the same slot

Hot Chip are a great addition, in my humble opinion.

The new album's really good too. It's pretty different from the previous two - slower, less dancey 80's electropop ballads. First song sounds like a cross between Fade to Grey and the Neverending Story.

    • It sounds like Feeder drew a crowd too big for that stage originally. Given the time period they haven’t appeared at Download as well it's a nostalgia thing. Halestorm vs Feeder wasn't the most ideal but leaving after either to get out would have been sweet at least.
    • You cant see everything unfortunately, it would be Halsey there for me 100%, the last 20/25 of Gorillaz. Halsey would be my non negotiable act on that day myself. Oddly Bleech 9:3 would actually give me an option I wouldn't mind between 3:15pm and Halsey. Dogstar would only likely be a 10 minutes thing of I've seen Keanu lol.
    • I think the tent was just right for Feeder, on that day anyway.   If you had a Biffy-esque day again, or someone of that ilk (maybe Pearl Jam for example), whack them on that main stage. 100%.    As it is, I think feeder will be back and probably high up the second stage or main stage next year or 2028.
    • I think we still have 2 acts to announce each day, maybe one more big name to complete the lineup?   Perhaps the big name is Turnstile on Thursday, which isn't sold out yet. And some other names that could be added like Iceage, Band of Horses or Tomora.
    • Saw David Gray 8 times between 2000 and 2025 (including one solo acoustic performance in Wexford, IE, 2017) and he always delivered. I enjoyed every show, never felt bland or let down an iota. To each their own. Yeah, it’s just that he’s not your cup of tea I’m afraid.   Agree that David is a bad dancer though lol.
