Snow Patrol

There is nothing to say that the headliner will be indie after all last year we had 3 indie headliners and no metal so there is nothing to say that 3 metal bands like Green Day, My Chemical Romance and Blink 182 are the headliners........

i've not heard their first two albums (aka the forgotten albums) but i thought final straw was absolutely fantastic, full of heartfelt emotion. The last two albums sound like they've been trying too hard to recapture that sound and it just doesn't work, anyone who's seen them know what the setlist is like right now (just remembered i saw snow patrol, but half a decade ago and they only played three or four songs)

It's not a case of them being a pop band (pop bands play all the time) it's a case of them being to MOR. Their first two albums were good, I really liked final straw and then they made an album with a few good songs and a few terrible songs and then an album with almost entirely terrible songs. They are very bland but live they are meant to be good.

Final Straw is a pretty good album, and I think they get too much stick from Hard Rock puritans who label anything that involves playing more than just power chords as MOR.

I don't rate them as a live band though. Saw them in Leeds in 2006 and was pretty bored by the halfway point of their set.

    • Wednesday is a nice addition imo
    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
