So happy about this (and already taking loads of abuse from people at work who think they're rubbish)

There have been so many doubters on these forums it's amazing to see it confirmed.

I've seen them live three times and they've been three great gigs. I feel this will be the best.

For those that aren't fans please remember before you write nasty things that there will be lots of other places to be on the Friday night. And that there'll probably be decent amounts of space too becasue U2 will get a big crowd.

As much as I don't like Bruce Springsteen, his appearance this year didn't break the bank and he's in the same league as U2.

There's hundreds of festivals that probably pay massive money to headliners but there's only one Glastonbury. I'm pretty sure that the biggest bands in the world are well aware that the fee for playing Glasto will be less than some others but I'm pretty sure it's still a major honour to play it and the money is secondary

I'll be going along for sure, never seen them before. Realy liked their early stuff. Went off them a bit thou, music not as good nowadays imo, and Bono doing his political agenda.

Hopefuly they'll be savy enough to know that a festival crowd want the greatest hits rather than plugging the new album.

If they do that then it could be a 'not to be missed' set.

Bloody well done everyone at GF. A MASSIVE announcement.

U2 will get the biggest crowd in the festivals history unless they put someone equally massive up against them.

The Nal - time to get writing a few songs chief. That ticket aint gonna materialise for you that easy now. Every Paddy-whacker in the US is gonna want to go to this thang.

How good is "Bad" gonna sound on that feckin' thing by the way?!?!?!

I AM OVER THE FARKING MOON HERE. Superb stuff from the whole team at GF. Amazing.

WOW! Well done Michael, this is awesome news.

All the negative comments just prove that you can never please all the people all the time. Although I hope the naysayers really don't turn up as I reckon we're going to need a bit of elbow room in that field.

As for those who are bemoaning a 'bit of politics' at Glasto - God forbid hey? How the times have changed.

    • Annie Lennox could be the one to unite the whole forum, nobody has a bad word to say about her, even noted curmudgeon Skip 😄 I'd probably even amble along for a bit meself, and i'm also a miserable sod
    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27, or that's what I've been told. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
