The Healing Fields. As soon as you walk in you feel kind of hushed, even thought the rest of the fest is a noisy hive of activity, it's the perfect place to want to take off your shoes and feel the grass between your toes. I promised myself that I would spend some time there this year so I could go and try an alternative therapy of some kind, so off I went and found a lady who wasn't busy and was doing Shen therapy. It was wonderful, so relaxing and uplifting, I'd had a bit of an odd day through not feeling very well (not booze related!), and she really worked magic on me. I felt like I was floating afterwards and thoroughly enjoyed a really long trek around the Shangri La, Trash City and Arcadia areas. I was exhausted after all that mind you!

Glastonbury goes from one extreme to another as you make your way around the site, from loud to quiet to loud again, from normal to weird to surreal and back again, it really can't be described properly, it's something you need to experience to know what it is that people fall in love with.

I'd have to say the food places. The amount of choice and good quality food is amazing, i was expecting burger and pizza places a plenty but was very pleseantly suprised

So now I've got a Glasto ticket (thanks Niblet!) I can start getting excited and thinking about what I'm gonna do when I'm there!!

I've been to festivals before, but never Glasto, and what appeals is that there's plenty of stuff to do that isn't just standing around watching bands all day (which is awesome, but still, plenty of time to explore, right?)

So what do people recommend?

Set up your tent, go straight to the brothers bar.. stay there untill you think your going to be sick.. then try and find your tent. Mission and a half.

"You, me, bum bum train" in Trash City was unbelievable. Definately my highlight of 2009.

Trash City and Shangri-la...there's so much there that it would be really hard to see all of it. No other fests have anything like either.

for me the healing fields too it was so relaxing and peaceful away from the mayhem of the main stages. Also impressed with the afternoon tea place where you can have full cream fternoon tea complete with china crockery!

A nice diversion for 30 minutes to how long you fancy is the Cabaret Tent. Don't worry about who's on, go in, take a seat and watch the act.

If they bore you then they'll be finished in a minute (most of the daytime acts have around 20 minutes), so stay and check out the next act - chances are they'll be good enough to make any waiting worth it.

Make sure you check out at least one circus show and one theatre show too. And visit the Kidz field (when not too smashed!).

Sitting at the top of the hill behind the Park at 4am and watching the sun rise whilst seagulls stream in and dive for abandoned food. Better than any band that is.

Just keep randomly wandering and you'll discover strange but wonderful things in strange places. From Banksy slogans to fire eaters, hidden venues, thought provoking billboards, great little food stalls. It's all too much to contemplate really, just don't get obsessed with having to cover it all - you won't and you'll just get sore feet from trying.
