Glastonbury 2010 Real Ale Thread

It's that time of year again.

All these narrow minded folk going on about the line up for the main stages are missing the point. What about the IMPORTANT line up?

I'm talking the Red Flag.

I'm talking The Bimble Inn.

I'm talking the drink that makes Britain stand apart from any other nation - REAL ALE. Who will make the main Real Ale line up of Glastonbury 2010?

So - what do we hope for next year? Are there any WBC workers on here who could shed some light on how beers are selected? Or which ones we can expect next year?

Which were your favourites from last year?

And just why is Real Ale so f**king marvellous?

a quality, hoppy thread with a malty finish!!

i approve of this thread!!

i shall be reading my new (birthday present - from my girlfriend as well - how cool is she?) copy of the good beer guide this evening planning a tour round windsor for the weekend to assess the towns 'good beer guide' ale houses (there are 7 of them within walking distance of eachother - a perfect sized pub crawl)

personally, i shall be hoping for a few very local and unheard of beers at the red flag this year

the saturday last year was enourmasly satisfying, sitting outside the red flag, in the sunshine, enjoying 5 of the ales on offer.

great days, great days!!

Is Eavis responsible for choosing all the beers that are served as well as everything else he has to organise? Looks like he's going to be very busy over the next 38 weeks.

I take it you are coming this year then chum?

I spent a nice long weekend in cornwall a month ago so my request is the delicious St Austell Tribute beer. Supporting the SW of england too! Sort it Eavis!

Absolutely divine stuff!

Brewdog's Hardcore IPA on tap...

Maybe not. Half a 330ml bottle lays me out for the night.

Still, I idolise those Brewdog guys. Trashy Blonde and Punk IPA are particularly recommended.

They should keep it local, plenty from Glastonbury Ales, RCH (especially Pitchfork and Double Header) as well as the usual selection. Please no Otter, it's nice but I live in Devon and it seems to be the only thing a lot of pubs have. Worse still is when you go to a pub up the other end of the country and ask what the guest ale is, only to find it's something you have regularly at home!

Totally second the Brewdog suggestion as well. Punk IPA is lush. Never had the Hardcore, how strong is that?
