Whatever happened to the '4 headliners' ?

There was supposed to be a 4th headliner but for whatever reason it didn't emerge. Kasabian got announced to be Bruce's 'support' I assume as a way to make people forget that there was actually supposed to be a proper (and bigger) 4th headliner instead.

Yeah, i think you'se are right.

I'm not wishing to be complaining about the lineup - believe me i am delighted.

But i am slightly disapointed that neither Radiohead or Arctic Monkeys are playing, seen as they're both playing Reading & Leeds.

I'm 16 and it's my first time at Glastonbury, so i'm gonna have a ball anyway...but i've said my piece :)

There wasn't a 4th headliner in the end, as eFestivals exclusively revealed at the end of March.

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/09/090330a.shtml

Kasabian were announced as 'special guests'. I know for certain that they were not the act planned to be the '4th headliner'.

(I know who the 4th headliner was planned to be, but won't be naming them).

Why the secrecy? Surely now the full line up has been released it doesn't matter if you tell us, does it?

Very simply, I don't feel it's my place to say.

The line-up being released doesn't make any difference to this - if I was going to say, there'd have been no reason not to say who it was at the time we revealed that it wasn't happening.

It's far better to look at the world by what does happen than by what doesn't. The line-up we've got is great, what more needs to be said? :)

Depeche Mode pulled out a while back & that was the end of the 4 headliners story.

Depeche Mode were never EVER going to be on the bill.

The story was complete and utter bullshit, made up by a PR man who has a very long history of getting tabloids to print his bullshit.

Before DM were approached about the possibility of Glasto they had dates arranged and announced around Glasto weekend. So they took a short while to consider if it was logistically possible to include Glasto, and decided no.

I know these things via a private source, who got this straight from the bands lips, long before that bullshit story appeared. This is why a repeat of that bullshit story never appeared on efests as it did in many other places.
