Why not?

SOAD and MCR are both mega headliners. Like they both have sold out stadiums for fun this summer. I know you could say the same for Linkin Park and Guns N’ Roses however LP was just 1 date at Wembley and GN’R were giving out tickets basically for free closer to the gig (Still fair play to both and clearly do really good numbers), I just think MCR and SOAD would both be extremely expensive. I think it’ll be Deftones for sure and then one mega headliner like MCR/Foos/SOAD and then another like Pearl Jam/NIN/Nickelback etc.

MCR/Deftones/NIN I think is the ideal trio out of those. MCR just more likely to be active than SOAD, it is time for Deftones to headline and tbh I only like NIN of the the last three you mentioned

I've always had a view that LP did one stadium to still be available for Download. They could have done more than 1 but if they wanted to return to Download as they were going to do 17 before the Chester thing that would be why. I think getting SOAD over here two summers running would be a miracle getting both on a year when there was the suggestion of taking a risk is heavily unlikely. They would be way bigger than getting Bizkit and GNR and they've only managed then two while booking one big one in LP.

I would agree as I dont think them being against coming over again

SOAD are one of those bands whose existence just seems very precarious. Every time they announce a "tour" (never really a proper tour, just half a dozen shows every year or so), I feel like it will be the last bunch of shows they perform. Never expect any new music from them.

Nah that's is exactly. They've bene offered enough money to pretend they like each other for a tour, I wouldn't be so sure they will come back over 11+ hours next year as well for less of a pay day.

I don't see why a festival run would be an issue, they'll just do the big euro festivals (Download, Hellfest, Graspop, RAR/RIP, Nova Rock and a couple of others) that's less shows than they are doing this year

The Offspring would have to headline now, they've sold their recent up and coming big tour very well. Not even any tickets for their tour on twickets apart from one date with some Manchester hospitality.

Is it the full arena or is any seating curtained off?

Completely fair play if they have shifted the entire arena but that's the same levels BMTH and such do

Full capacity, a lot of only very further back and high left. Most went very quick off the bat. Glasgow has the most left, Manchester a few hundred overall at the very tops, Cardiff gone, Newcastle is resales, the 02 is mostly the same. They aren't quite BMTH sell but they've clearly done enough to have been chosen as an option based on next year.

I mean completely fair play to them. I just didn't think Offspring were that big.

To add, I don't think they should headline myself and they are one of my favourite bands but based on this year they definitely could. I think their undercard would be too weak like Cypress Hill for example which even for rarity they are a 3rd down band

Cypress Hill did sub Linkin Park at Hellfest so they definitely are a sub band but I also wouldn't be shocked if in the second announcement we have a sub and CH are played third down

It doesnt really matter what they do in France, LP are also a huge headliner. Hell Fest had The Hu and Til Lindermann sub too and they are subbing Download. Megadeth and Tom Morello have also subbed it. Hollywood Vampires and Porcupine Tree as well. You've only got to look at 2022 hell fest too, some subs wouldn't be 3rd, 4th would even questioned. They've got the rarity factor in them.

With a big outdoor show and a successful arena run I am surprised nobody's suggesting Offspring yet.

They are headlining Hellfest, could definitely be an option for Download as the "cheaper" headliner

They’re going to headline again before 2030, aren’t they.

    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
