It would be still fine if we would get bmth, I mean ofc they are not gonna bring as many people as rihanna would but bmth are popular too and not that expensive think about that too and they are touring next too summer

Bring Me The Horizon, (even if they wouldn't bring in as many people as Rihanna, and it's not a big deal),   would nevertheless mark a real sign that Sziget wants to bring back a more "original" audience, because it's a band that's closer to what was done more around the years 2012-2015.

And it is nowadays quite a big band, already headlining rock and metal festivals. Needless to say, I would be delighted lol

Yes you are totally right and I agree with you in everything, some people were expecting exactly a band like bmth for example coming next year when Gerendai is back now, I think it would be pretty amazing, I already have full pass and I like all genres but this would be absolute cinema

I'm pretty sure it's not Rihanna because:

1. She would be a "blockbuster" booking

2. Gerendai and most Szitizens really hated her show in 2016

Yeah, they really spoke out after her show, which was not usual at Sziget. Although in an hour of need they’d forget her previous flop and book her if they could. Also her dear husband cancelled his tour in the last minute last year, so she could make up for it. All in all, I don’t think it’s possible, really hope the umbrella stands for The Cure.

I did use AI but apparently that is the exact coding that BMTH use in their messaging and the umbrella is the album cover, I’d prefer Rihanna personally though

Rihanna is, to date, the worst headliner performance I’ve seen in my life.

It cost a fortune and left pretty much everyone unhappy in 2016 (a 30-minute delay, and the whole set was basically a playback medley). I also remember rumours about some issue with the billing/fee for the performance, but I’m not sure about that.

Yeah, Kendrick Lamar from 2018 is close second for me.

Would you say so? Despite the technical difficulties, I actually enjoyed Kendrick’s set back then. If I had to name my top 3 worst shows at Sziget, I’d say:

  • Rihanna (2016)

  • Blink-182 (2014)

  • Justin Bieber (2019)

If I recall correctly they said that it said in her contract if she played x minutes, she’d get the full fee, then she proceeded to play around x+1 minute.

I remember being quite drunk, just hanging around in the back to see Rihanna, people started booing.

I'm like, what's happening, why are people booing?

Then I checked what time it was, she was at least half an hour late or more.

Barely played an hour then left.

From a personal point of view, I really hope that's not alluding to BMTH. They are pretty much the one current rock band I have tried, and tried again, to get into but just can't. Although, if they brought NBT with them, I could stand it!

Might be tho.

I don't know how much this counts as a precedent, but BMTH played third down in 2016 (I remember a glorious day with Sigur Ros and Muse after them, but I might be wrong). They had already made the switch to the general audience and had a great turnout for their timeslot.

It might be a bit of a long shot, but if they really didn't know where to start (which I guess isn't the case, because Gerendai might feel out of touch with Gen Z, but he has enough money to hire trend experts), they might look at what's still trending and familiar at the same time.

This could explain Florence, 21 Pilots, Lewis Capaldi, Biffy Clyro; especially the latter who are clearly a legacy name (Sziget was the first festival outside of UK to give them a headlining spot).

In all of this, I'm lowkey amused to see that Macklemore is not being booked, eveb tough the guy would have literally thrown himself in front of the KKR executives' car on their way to the Budapest City Council to save the festival. I wonder if that was just a marketing stunt or if Sziget deliberately is holding him back (either because he really is not popular anymore, or they are keeping him as a failsafe, or they know that he is the name that EVERYONE is actually waiting for).

Rhianna did exactly the same at Pukkelpop that year, utter garbage.

Kendrick also phoned it in at Pukkelpop in 2018 too.

For the fellow Hungarians waiting for the news about the student tickets, something will happen tomorrow at 9am, according to Karacsony.

off: does anyone else find the site borderline unusable on phone because of the ads?

A Latvian festival called Positivus Festival posted about Asap Rocky’s new album, and someone asked about his return. Look at their respond.

This Festival takes place on the 8th and 9th of August, which is perfectly before Sziget. I think we will get him on the rap headliner spot.

He cancelled a lot of festival appearances in 2025 not just Sziget, so it makes sense for him to do a festival run in the summer.

I know you guys not really into rap/hip-hop, but i really like his music, and i would be happy to finally see him live! 🙂

Rihanna and Asap are unlikely I'd say as they should be touring south america in august

I do not know anything about Rihanna’s tour, however a leaker told me that Rocky will be performing some shows in EU in July, and also we have a possible hint from Positivus Festival.

Highly doubt Sziget will look at ASAP Rocky this year. What with poor tickets sales and pulling out shortly before last years festival.

That's a really good point. They will know exactly how well he sells tickets and, judging by some of the posts last year, he doesn't particularly.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
