Sziget 2026

Here we go!

An interesting social media post by Sziget: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1707305236489459

This part especially: "Next year's headliner? We’re 🤏  this close to telling you.  Are you ready?"

So we might get our first 2026 headliner sooner than we think!

What act do you wish it to be? What would you like to improve next year? Do you plan to buy the super early bird tickets?

Some predictions

Linkin Park: the hype around the new singer and album sat down a bit, US sales are going slower, could this mean Sziget gets a chance? Mentioned in wishmachine.

Yungblud: Sziget gave Dua Lipa her first ever headline-spot when she only had two realtively well known hits. Such an opportunity could mean that the artist does the gig a bit cheaper, as headling a major EU festival has a great value for promotion. Sure this would allow Sziget to get some extra budget for a bigger name for another day. Yungblud as a headliner - a -win-win situation for everyone? (Not mentioned in the wishmachine though.)

Hungarians: I expect Carson Coma to come out with a new album next year, and make a return to the main stage at 17:45. Azahriah had a year off, he's still the most popular artist in Hungary (his triple arena gig is already sold out), he's local so he's probably not as expensive as flying someone over from Britain. Krúbi ruled out due to a year off, I did expect him for Pogány's spot at the main stage this year - maybe in 2027.

Wet Leg: this simply has to be the year. They've got a new record out so could probably fit in some more Central EU gigs next year.

Realistic ones from wishmachine:

Damiano David (originally the singer of Maneskin)

Biffy Clyro (new album, played in Budapest this summer for peanuts so clearly open for this region)

Beabadoobee

Cage The Elephant

Girl in Red

Touring but unlikely:

My Chemical Romance is touring in Europe next summer but I don't think Sziget wants to book them, not popular enough among casual visitors for the price, only would attract a smaller group of core fans.

I'd love Olivia Rodrigo but it feels unlikely, she's going to have a new album out and I think she's going to milk that with sell out arenas instead of festivals. There could be a chance for 2027. Was featured in the wishmachine though.

Oasis: I can't see festivals paying them the money they can get from an arena gig. Also, there was a leaked list of tour dates (from questionable sources tho!) that already included Budapest for June

I don't know what 🤏close actually means to them, but Sabrina's album drops on the 29th and she could be announcing tour dates around the same time.

Also, am I the only one who finds it kinda weird that the actual dates for next year have not been announced yet?

I do wonder if they may be planning something a little different. Which is annoying for those of us who try to book accommodation ahead of the game. Lol

They shifted the dates slightly so they could get Billie Eilish a couple of years ago, maybe they are doing something similar next year.

Got to be someone big, right? Like they did with Sheeren, perhaps. Maybe it's Gaga?

I also guess it's an act that never played Sziget or who didn't play it for a long time.

So, Eminem? RHCP? The Weeknd? Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles are also in this list, I guess. I just don't know if they have the money for any of these. 😁

Yeah, it bothers me as well, they usually announce it on the last day. But this might be the usual communication flaw. They even had the 11 millionth visitor and I saw nothing about it on the official channels of the festival.(Might have missed it though, but it was all over my feed in previous years).

I also heard a rumour from someone with a bit of inside knowledge that if next year won’t be profitable then that’s it for Sziget. It’s kind of a trust me bro type of situation, but they also predicted the changes introduced for this year on the final day of last year’s edition. So might have some truth to it.

Oasis leak is really questionable, some of those dates are already have scheduled gigs at the mentioned venues, Puskas also hosting Metallica on the day before. Would be nice though, seeing them was probably the best concert of my life.

Wet Leg is a must have, seriously.

This mysterious headliner should be someone with new material( I can totally see Sabrina Carpenter being announced), or some reformed group which’s planning to make a return next year. Either way, I’m already excited.

Well it better be f**king profitable then.

But IIRC someone here mentioned the whole renewal process is planned to take place in the next 2-3 years and something about that they hope the festival will be profitable in 2027. But maybe it was 2026.

The CEO said that they expect it to be profitable in 2026. I will be devastated otherwise, it feels like home every single year.

MCR are doing something next year, I believe. Not my cup of tea tbh but would certainly attract crowds.

Of course, because it is home! So fingers crossed. Post festival depression and bad “news” like this don’t make me happy

Yep, I saw they have announced something, but isn’t it a stadium tour?

2 Wembley dates so far for July, but I also believe it's going to be a stadium tour, and I think they are more expensive than how many "casual" visitors they would attract. They didn't sell out the 10k capacity Budapest Park a few years ago, so I would be extremely surprised to see them in the line up.

That was my initial thought as well. But this anniversary tour might drive up the nostalgia factor. Never got the chance to see them live and I was pretty amazed by their earlier stuff, so I wouldn’t be mad.

Your prediction/hopes are very guitar driven. When you think sziget have only 1 guitar act in the last 2 editions (Liam Gallagher). I would imagine if there's a blockbuster guitar act around, like the foo fighters they will play. Otherwise they will steer clear, especially as 2025 was a popular one.

It will be pop, dance, hip hop and maybe a big guitar band if relevant.

Radiohead anyone.

I'm not entirely sure that Sabrina Carpenter will be the first headliner. Would many people be that hyped to hear she is the first big announcement? There might be some very happy people with the booking but I don't really think that she is much more popular than Chappell Roan. And commercially the last day of the 2025 edition might have been one of the worst for them.

TL;DR: I can see her playing Sziget but I kinda doubt that she is their first announcement.

Defintitely, that's the scene I have some knowledge on, but of course I do believe we'll only see the maximum of one headliners to be from that genre. But I think a few smaller names could happen on the poppier side like Wet Leg, Beabadoobee, etc.

Guitar music is my knowledge as well. Last day with Kingfishr and Refused was a great way to finish the week off with a bit of guitar action.

We definitely need more, although The Buzz had quite a bit.

Don't to this to me in the middle of my post festival depression haha

+5% growth sounds alright but last year was an all time low with 400 000 visitors. This was still the second lowest attendance since the lockdown. And double checked, they did say 2026 should be profitable. The last time it was profitable was in 2022, when it felt like they spent nothing on decorations, undercard names were meh, and there were a lot more visitors (450k). So I'm a bit worried, but of course if they can get a 10% increase next year after the great reviews of this year they could buy themselves some more time. As far as I remember they still have a good few years from the contract with the city council for the island.

Sorry. It hurts me as well just to think about it as a possibility.
edit: it really is just a hearsay, so don’t take it too seriously.

2022 was special, because everyone wanted to do everything and travel everywhere after the lockdown. What matters the most now that it seems like the trend has changed and let’s hope that from now on they will be able to increase the number of attendees every year. Also as per visuals, it was almost like pre-covid, it’s clear they really want to get back on track.

I wonder what the price will be.

They lower it in 2023 and offer 21&younger ticket which is even cheaper.

With 70k visitors daily making a loss, a bit weird economic model.

I agree. If people are travelling from across Europe to attend, would 10 euros on a 3 day ticket and 20 euros on 6 day tickets really stop people buying?

Cutting another day to 5 (used to be 7 + 3 day movin in), would help putting a profit spin on the festival. The length of Sziget draws me in over better lineup festivals, only Roskilde can compare.

So much choice in Europe now, its also getting the people back from around the world.

I would say this was my fave Sziget since 2019.

Going back to the original 5 full days + 1 or 2 (sometimes 3) additional days with limited stage access might do the trick. It would significantly reduce the cost of acts for the first two days, while keeping the length of the festival. Not sure when it started to be 7 full days, but Ed Sheeran was on Day 0 back in 2019.
Since covid it was the best for me, too.

2014 was the 1st 7 day one i think.

I don't think it would be a bad idea making it 2+5, with the first 2 being solely Hungarian and surrounding countries.

Similar to how Roskilde do it. 3 + 4, with the 1st 3 days Scandinavian acts.
