So true, and then you've got the Manchester people who go up too. Very impressed with what they've done over the years, you can see how far they've come when you look at ex headliners playing further down - Libertines not headlining is mad to me considering they headlined as recently as 2018!

The Libertines have taken a massive dip since 2018 and that was their dip from the bigger stage. They've had a slight resurgence but not enough to headline. Hoping the Sunday sub is a good one but The Libertines into Biffy will be great. Talking of Biffy, I don't think they are getting headline spots at any major festival again after this unless it was an absolute desperate situation. I don't even think IOW will give them it now. I reckon their Finsbury Park should will be very easy to get cheap tickets later on.

I think they would do IOW again easy. But yes, I can see them never headlining R&L or even Download again tbh. It's an interesting one as I think it's a mix of a) Biffy accepting they're perhaps not as big as once were and opting for stuff they've never done before and b) also a sign that festivals like Victorious and Kendal Calling are getting stronger and aiming higher? Given they've headlined R&L, Download and TRNSMT in the last 5 years it's a pretty big coup for Kendal. Their drop off isn't crazy compared to say The Libertines that you mentioned... They're still pulling in the really good numbers on their arena tour for example.

Depends on what Leeds are doing. They've gone back to 6 headliners this year which I could see them sneaking into but if they are going the flat 3 headliners then agree I can't see them doing it.

It does feel like Kendal has gone ahead of the other similar festivals though (Y not, truck) which is great to see.

Own tours are different. This Biffy tour sold way quicker than their last one. Kasabian are selling arenas tours again quick now, but they aren't headlining any of the major one. The only chance of IOW is that it's across the water so not just a simple drive away.

Suppose it depends what the whole 2.0 thing is about in terms of acts they are going to target in future.

But aye Kendal definitely the strongest of the other camping Superstruct festivals IMO. Really looking forward to it as never been before. Only 40k cap too isn't it? Used to bigger festivals so will be a nice change

Surprised how quick the Biffy tour sold tbh, given Futique isn't near their best work. Though I can't remember if the tour went on sale before the album? Just a shame they've neglected Newcastle once again... Going to Nottingham instead.

Would have done the Finsbury Park gig too, though likely wouldn't have booked until after Xmas. Once you pay the £90 for a ticket, plus trains and a hotel (same weekend as Metallica so couldn't see anything less than £150 a night for a decent hotel) you're getting into the price of Kendal ticket for two days less music hence why we bit the bullet and opted for Kendal

To be honest Biffy haven't been near their best work for a while now.

Yeah I'd rather pay put for Kendal and experience that even though Finsbury is much closer, the support don't interest me.

If Kendal was an option, I'd definitely pick that. One of these days I'm gonna have to get in there early and get a ticket. It's the one festival, year after year, I regret not doing exactly that.

Still got an eye on Biffy in London though. For all the talk of diminishing returns on albums, they put on another great headline set this year at TRNSMT and they seem to just excel on those big stages. I can see the same happening at Finsbury.

To be honest if acts still put enough older material in then the newer albums being poor isn't a huge deal. Both of their most recent albums to be honest are 1 song away from being pointless releases. The albums sales etc tell you that.

This is my 4th time going and yet the first time I've purchased tickets in the main sale... (Purely because I wanted LIV)

I've always purchased them closer to the time, for less than face value, from the official reseller, Tixel.

Loads available now if anybody wants them, but you will find better deals at other times... Paid £120 each last year.  https://tixel.com/uk/festival-tickets/kendal-calling-tickets

Is April prime time? I wonder if leaving it until the last minute is a risk worth taking….

Unless you want something that is in very short supply, like LIV or camping upgrades, then April is 100% fine. A bit later and you might even start seeing bargains and get a chance to buy at much less than face. But yeh, for general camping, even the day before would be fine, it has been for the last 3 years anyway.

There's plenty around the £265 mark right now though, if you're nervous and want to make it 100% guaranteed.

This basically. It wouldn't leave it top close but mid April is still 3.5 months to go. I'd even be fine with May. I don't need it for alvorams price but sub £200 would be solid

Oh you'll easily get sub 200... Every ticket I've ever purchased for Kendal was sub 200.

Even 2023 in July, 13 days before the fest, was only £163 🙂

That being said... It did sell out earlier this year, so who knows? On that note, I hereby declare myself not responsible for any risks that anybody takes... The right answer is that 'the only way to guarantee things, is to act asap.'

Looking at Chic and Nile Rodgers' schedule, I'm even more sure he's on this. The gap in his lineup suggests he's got stuff coming over two weekends here, and this is one of them.

It looks obvious but there is a fair gap there to fill and most events announced.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
    • Shambles. Transport and comms garbage. Been looking forward to this since last June and have never been to a more disorganised festival in 30+ years.  Why we were told the whole festival was cancelled for the night if they had put back shows for a few hours?  Pissed off to say the very least and put a huge downer on the rest of the weekend.
