My bad, wasn't there that year

Let you off.

I love Lucy.  Seen her gigs at O2 Academy, Rock n Roll Circus and the Theatre in London in April.  Also seen her in Cabaret in West End which was amazing.

Think she deserves to Headline Tramlines but not sure it would go down too well.  Wife saw the Sheffield Arena show and said it was good but that it got swamped by the size of the place and worried the same would happen on the Main Stage as a Headline Act.  Don't think it helped that the Staging at Arena was exactly the same as the small Theatre in London.

Yeah, I've seen her a few times too, including the arena. I thought the staging was fine. Was down in the thick of it in front section of standing. Her shows are as much about the audience experience as the stage. She has a super loyal following, very engaged with her performances, and quite different to the regular Tramlines crowd, so I think in a headline slot she'd get huge numbers of day tickets sold.

And actually, her and Lily Allen, and CMAT on the same day, would be dynamite! Very much not going to happen though 😂

First time attempting, what kind of stuff have they sent in the past? Are they actual names or do you have to figure them out from clues?

Usually a mini bottle of Hendos with a name on. Different names for different people - all headlines, plus a few other larger names

Then the poster within a few days of the clues

Done a few "gifts" over the years, as noted already, the last two years it's been little bottles of Hendos with an artist's name on the label. Previously, they did fortune cookies, with the slip of paper containing an artist's name. This year, they're branding it as "spilling the beans", and an image of beaked beans, so a tin with artist names seems the most obvious, or perhaps it'll be jelly beans to be a little more fun, as theorised above. Other Superstruct festivals have done stuff like writing artist names on an actual leek (as in the vegetable). So, expect something of that nature.

Charli xcx, Maccabees, Paul Weller.

Gary Numan, Johnny Marr, Sombr, Robyn also on line-up

their first ever post on efestivals, does seem fishy...

Charli XCX is surely too big and also a massive shift in what tramlines usually books. would love robyn but also seems a strange booking.

Blossoms headlining neighbourhood could well be a good shout? Wombats playing piece hall? Both played recently but not headlined and would be crowd favourites and sufficiently not super exciting or rocking boat to be realistic...

Nothing but thieves at that sort of level?

Gerry cinamon will surely start doing this level of festivals soon

agree would be great to have self esteem / a female headliner

inhaler / royel otis both around in uk as supporting foos, theyd be good bookings subbing.

?biffy - doing arenas this jan

after they threw money at pulp would love them to do something similar with another big act and then save money with self esteem perhaps.

Chem brothers? Tame impala? probably dreaming

Do we reckon these "gifts" will be sent out this week, then? Or maybe over the weekend for next week?

I reckon late this week, with poster early next week, in readiness for pay day.

Makes sense! Pulled the trigger on tickets over the weekend (usually buy day one, but was away during the early bird sale). Would hate to skip two Tramlines in a row, so hoping for at least a couple bands that appeal to my landfill indie tastes. Predicting the headliners will be Self-Esteem, Richard Ashcroft/Paul Weller and then a Blossoms or other landfill favorite.
