Primavera Porto (same week as DL) have announced Idles, Viagra Boys, Kneecap, Joey Valance and Brae.

All four could now appear at DL

Boomtown have got Kneecap pretty high up, not sure how that might impact Download.

Hoping for JVB, couldn't care less about Idles or Viagra Boys but could see why they'd be decent bookings.

Has anyone in the UK ever paid £130 for a headline show from QOTSA or Avenged or Korn or Limp Bizkit?

Feels like a very random and arbitrary rule to throw at Biffy and nobody else.

The pattern from the last few years is one big/exclusive booking and then whoever else is available. On that basis Linkin Park as your big name with Limp Bizkit and Biffy feels completely realistic to me.

They all didn't have a mass walkout though when they last headlined.

Kneecap are definitely the least likely and if they do appear I have no idea where they would go?

Subheadline Opus?

Is this the first time we haven't been 100% sure of the headliners this close to the announcement?

It's possible it is the trio that has been mentioned the most for a while now which is Guns n Roses/Limp Bizkit/Linkin Park, we'd just prefer that not be it.

It's largely alternating between Ghost and GnR.

Where the did the original Ghost rumour come from? We’ve gone round in circles so many times I’ve lost where that one started.

The bookers for Download followed the band on their UK tour in April and were seen with the band.

Usually when going to a gig it's just one member of the team not the whole of it and they usually don't meet the band either so it's possible they signed the contract during the tour. A person with insider knowledge who has previously been correct said Ghost are headlining next year.

Ghost were also apparently offered a headline slot for '25 but declined because of their UK tour so it's assumed they just got carried over to '26.

Also when they announced their '25 tour they announced all the dates in one go while for '26 they've only announced a North America leg for early '26 making it likely they're going to be announced for festivals soon since it's the only thing they'd hold back dates for.

The "Download team" (including Andy) were pictured with Tobias because the tour was sold out. Live Nation promoted the tour so that was obviously a good thing for them. People seem to overlook that the bookers don't just work on Download.

I've seen the claim they followed them around but seen nothing to back it up. And besides that, how often have they followed a band round for every show before signing them up? They already know what they're getting.

The fact that they promoted the tour and booked the venues makes the story that Andy told someone they wanted to book them for this year unlikely too.

Kam (the new lead booker for Download) said on instagram "great hanging out with the ghost team on their sold out UK tour" with one of the photos being them on a jet so safe to assume they went to all the dates

They're awful live and both times they've headlined have ended up with a small crowd. In 2022 Korn and Steel Panther both had bigger crowds.

They're great live. I can see Korn drawing a bigger crowd but if DL goers would rather see Steel Panther then I hope this festival rots

To be fair I haven't seen or heard Steel Panther live but I find their music terrible. Seen Biffy a few times both as a headliner and a support and they've always been fun. I am looking at their DL22 setlist now though and it is a weak setlist as someone who tends to like them. Way too much from what was then their latest albums.

They are decent live but they are rubbish at Download. As said, 2022 setlist wasn't great either, they are a band that need to adapt a setlist more for where they are playing.

There is no hate i don't think but it's the point of when they don't hold a crowd there anyway why wouldn't people pay top dolla for it. They have sold well at their own gigs yes but it's not Download, it's not £130 for a day, it's not costing £40 to park and it doesn't add to a cost of £350 for a weekend.

Can someone explain the Biffy hate?

Not hate but they are just not a download band whatsoever and the two times they've headlined proves that

Nothing against them as a band but they just don't seem to fit either of Downloads audiences that being older rockers/metalheads and younger alternative/emo's

They are an indie rock band with some heavier tracks

I don't even think you can really call them indie. As much as I love them, I've always thought of them occupying their own little space. They're evidently not indie enough or popular enough with the dark fruits crowd to play the dark fruits festivals, yet not heavy enough to satisfy the average Download attendee as a headliner.

I think @northernangel is bang on when they could have adapted their setlist to be heavier for 2017 and 2022. But I'm sure I've seen Simon say if you book Biffy you get Biffy and if that means a setlist full of their bigger hits that are unmistakably alt rock, rather than their heavier songs, then so be it. And tbh fair enough!
