The image of the Revolut makes it look more like the old party arena

I never made it to the Party Arena. Was it significantly different to Revolut? Bigger? Easier to access?

I think I walked pat it a few times and, if memory serves me correctly, it just looked like a massive marquee at a village fete (i.e a bit naff and nowhere near as cool or impressive looking from the outside at the Revolut tent). Am I misremembering?

Exactly. It’s pretty lame, and I think it’s more suffocating than Revolut.

I was thinking more like how it looked at this point. The graphic of the Revolut stage on the new map looks a lot more similar to this version of the party arena than how we’re used to the Revolut stage looking

Less high and maybe even smaller, unless they extend it...

Yeah, that really doesn't strike me as an upgrade!

They obviously rent the tents in - pretty sure the Revolut had labels on saying it had come from an English provider. Maybe that was more expensive and using Party Arena (if that, indeed, is what it is) is a cost saving measure.

Gotta say, the current tent strikes me an a really impressive structure when you first come across it on day one of the festival. Any downgrade would impact that enormously.

Three weeks to go and this chat needs a boost.

So:

1. What THREE acts are you most looking forward to? Charli XCX, Post Malone, Chappell Roan

2. What is the ONE act that others might have missed that you recommend? Caity Baser

3. What day gives you the most clashes? Day 1

4. Which headliners will you be watching? All of them (although probably not Kid Cudi’s entire set)

5. What ONE tip would you give to someone who hasn't been to Sziget before? First time for me so I’ll sit this one out

Even though it’s marked that way on the map, no way it’s smaller than the last Revolut stage, not to mention the old Party Arena. Might just look similar, that’s all.

But I’m gonna miss the tent...

It’s an interesting decision. I wonder why they’ve chosen to change it so much

due to the different shape it probably is easier to fit a stage for bigger production. with the old tent you maybe would need to place the stage further in the middle of the tent and thus lose space for the audience. also it seems a bit wider to me than the old one. havent been since 2019 though. anyway pure speculation, we will be wiser once we are there.

could be cheaper too, but "used an old tent" implies they own the tents and then i don't see why it would be cheaper to replace a tent they own by one they own.

FYI, more than 150 Hungarian musicians/artists have signed a petition demanding the cancellation of Kneecap at Sziget. Many people whose name I would never have expected to see on such a list.

I guess most of them have no idea — they just saw the petition on Facebook and signed it, because signing anything that seems righteous is par for the course. What’s even worse, though, is that major news outlets are treating the allegations as facts, so the pressure on Sziget to cancel them will really start to mount.

I don't know if the rising presure will make the sziget organizers bend, but so far they seemed to be adamant on having Kneecap perform. I know it's a different situation, but Nina Kraviz performed in 2022, which shows to me that they are against cultural boycott of any kinds.

Also Kneecap is probably the most radical and notorious, but there are a lot of other artists on the lineup who openly support Palestine.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early.
