Currently debating whether to go to Rock Werchter or Sziget. What are some reasons I should come to Sziget?

If you need some interesting stuff bar the music, like circus / yoga / cabaret  etc. - you should try Sziget.
If you need strong lineup - it definitely loses to Werchter.

Thank you for the response. I usually go to Glastonbury but didn’t manage to get tickets this year.

I suppose that Sziget has the advantage of being in the city so could also find other stuff to fill time with.

Absolutely, no need to spend all day, every day at the festival. Budapest ruin bars are a good night out.

Been to both quite a few times.

Rock Werchter is a lineup based festival, if they have an average lineups then it loses most of its charm. As you could pick up the same standard of lineup elsewhere.

Plus points it's a 4 day festival with full day lineups and is a very calm lineup.

Minus points is perhaps the crowd not being very enthusiastic in the most part.

Sziget is a full on festival, or a chilled festival depending what you want. Personally I don't think it's the same post covid, lost a lot of it's charm and not a cheap festival now.

Plus points it's a 6 day festival, with a varied lineup and lots to do and short hop into Budapest.

Minus points, main stage they only have 4 acts on and doesn't start until 4pm and finishes before 11pm. Lineups wise Sziget is more weaker than most large festivals in Europe and over sells the other stuff.

If you are after an alternative in Europe, with a mixture of better lineups and lots of stuff going on. Then I would look at Roskilde festival, 4 day festival + 3..

Pre covid sziget was my fave festival I've been to, post covid Roskilde steals it.

We do both...one for the good weather holiday feeling and one for the line up...

We did it this year too and it worked well.

Unsolved Clue: 🌍🚶‍♂️ -referring to a song title/not headliner

I still think that's Kwabs. The Earth is on Africa and Kwabs is born to Ghanaian parents. And his most well known song is Walk, which represents the second emoji.

Post Malone just announced his US tour today, ends July 1, so plenty of time to get over to Europe. He is also expected to announce a Coachella headlining slot, too. I bet that's why Sziget had to postpone the announcement, Coachella probably made Post do that. Still, having a proper Coachella headliner speaks well for Sziget. Hope @Sziget2025_Leaks is right, Post would be a big grab this year. https://pitchfork.com/news/post-malone-seems-to-leak-news-of-coachella-appearance-with-2025-tour-announcement/

Here's his Insta announcement: https://www.instagram.com/postmalone/p/DCjp14mRn6G/?img_index=2. Says "Indio, CA" on the days of Coachella. I'm betting Post has to wait on announcing his European run of festivals until after the Coachella announcement.

Be a while, Coachella usually drop the line up first week of Jan.

Is he really big enough in Europe to delay an announcement?

Names that have been hinted at by Leaks account so far:

Justice
Shawn Mendes
Post Malone

Negotiating names:

Chappell Roan
Wet Leg

Unsolved Clue: 🌍🚶‍♂️ -referring to a song title/not headliner

Official announcement: Early December

I think this 'proves' that Justice won't be a headliner. Leaks originally said the announcement contained one or two headliners and there's at least three in that list with Post, Chappell and Shawn.

Didn't he say it specifically referred to a song? Could Daft Punk reunite for a tour in 2025? The only song really that comes to mind about this clue is "Around the world"

Never going to happen. And if it was, there's no way that Leaks would risk blowing it by teasing it weeks before an official announcement.

    • I do agree to a point and I will just not buy tickets for some things now cos I know there’s a good chance I’ll get some cheap.   also think the quality of a lot of the artists around is just quite poor at the moment, either touring albums from 20 years ago or poorly received  albums    then also this trend of doing 7 shows at one location, people are tired of travelling and there’ll always be spares close to the time
