BST 2025

So, we've got two slots left, and both presumably for the Friday and Saturday of the final weekend.

Given ELO's presence, and the general younger-skewing bookings so far - Rodrigo, Kahan, Bryan, Carpenter - I'm expecting somebody else for the older crowd here.

Neil Young? Stevie Wonder? Both would be a bit late for the supposed Glastonbury tandem though.

Rolling Stones maybe? There's talk of them being in the UK next year with a New Year announcement.

No idea if it would be a bit samey given they were there not all that long ago.

Stones would play two shows minimum. And I understood the last two slots are for two artists. They‘ll be at a stadium.

Sounds more likely.

I'm assuming non-Wembley for the Stones given how many things they've got announced so far for 2025. But then that's what I thought before Guns N Roses and Linkin Park announced they were there so f**k do I know.

As for BST, maybe this might be where the Sheeran washes up given his curious lack of UK shows for 2025... and tbf, he is free that weekend where we think there's the two extra spots waiting to be filled.

Does anyone know when they usually announce support acts after the initial announcement? Being asked by my daughter (following Xmas present) about Olivia Rodrigo specifically, should we be expecting Last Dinner Party and Girl in red as second and third on the bill? Cheers

LDP will be 2nd, GiR will be 3rd on bill. BST tends to only announce extra bands at the very last minute - rarely do you get any big names added unless the event isn't selling well and they need something to boost sales. Given OR gig is sold out, they could add a load of unheard names a few days before the event and be done with it. BST is all about making the biggest profit possible, hence why the follow-on announcements to the line-up are never as good as the first announcement. I imagine LDP and GiR will get a decent amount on time on stage so will still be a good event even if there is only one more band added to the main stage and four unknowns to the second stage.

I’m not sure if her touring schedule but I wouldn’t rule out Kim Deal maybe supporting

I also think that it’ll be interesting who plays Glastonbury in the Saturday or Sunday. Could we see an act do that after they’ve played Hyde Park?

Doubt Neil Young is really doing this. After the BBC is enough to drop out of Glastonbury I can‘t imagine American Express not being a problem.

I’d suggest it’s more about the TV stuff

He played in 2019, it just wasn't sponsored by anyone and was a standalone gig.

Totally doable and I fully expect to see Neil in Hyde Park next summer. It just won't be announced in sequence by BST as it will be promoted separately.

Yeah, I think that is the most likely scenario.

I think that was a very last minute change though, wasn't it? Like almost a cancellation last minute change?

It was, but not sure how that's relevant here. The point stands that it can be done.

I think it's relevant because I feel like Neil forced their hands, and the gig (possibly) only bent to his demands because it was too late in the day. BST seems very commercial, and I don't think they'd throw sponsorship money away freely. Also, would they want to do dealings with him again after going through all that stress? Al hypothetical, because I don't know the inner dealings of the festival, but relevant, at least .

Didn't he also refused to play after Bob Dylan) (I think that's what BST initially wanted, but he insisted Dylan headlined out of a respect).

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
