2000 Trees 2024

Recommended Posts

They're threatening a full clashfinder soon on social media, I reckon I'm on for Saturday as soon as they confirm Frank Turner and Creeper don't clash. Those are the two big draws still for my partner so them clashing probably makes it a no (even if I'd go to all three days).

No chance that happens, either it'll be Creeper in between Frank and Broco, or Creeper clash with Broco. It'll either be Lonely the Brave or Death From Above clashing with Frank.

interesting on todays pod to hear James saying something along the lines of trees headliners needing to be able to sell out ally pally  granted Gaslight and Broco probably could but where on earth do The Chats fit that description.

as a side note to that I was surprised to see The Chats confirm an extensive winter UK tour yesterday. thought they'd wait til after Trees

Definitely feels as if someone fell through or they struggled to get someone and bumped The Chats up. I'd have moved Frank over to headline.

Blanket at Trees (announced on the podcast). Very happy with that as their new album is excellent.

Also seemed to let slip that it'll be The Cave clashing with Main at Trees as he said "main will clash with third...Well 4th at arctangent" which was the main talking point but they'd just come off a point about Trees.

Was pretty obvious for Thursday but could go either way for Fri and Sat really.

Think I missed that comment. Don't think it would change my plans too much, would make my worst clash Manchester Orchestra vs Movements.

Interesting to hear James admit he had to beg Don Broco to do the festival as well as he was struggling with bookings, all but confirms that The Chats were most likely bumped up due to struggling to find suitable headliners.

Do wonder who the holy grail booking who gave him some hope were. Alexisonfire or Deftones are my reckoning given he mentioned about the logistics of flying them in.

I've heard him mention Deftones and Biffy as holy grail bookings in the past.

I think given Simon is back again suggests he enjoyed himself last year, not sure if they all still live in the UK so don't know if they'd match the flight thing

It seems I am going to my first 2000 Trees this year. I told my girlfriend, I had entered a NHS ballot for tickets on Concert for Carers as I liked a few bands.

I am not really expecting to win but as my partner would not want to camp if I did win, she started looking for hotels just in case I get lucky. I told her what bands I would like to see and mentioned that Thumpasaurus are playing as she is a big fan. Once, I mentioned them she wanted to know how much tickets cost. They are doing the £50 off for weekend tickets and so we got from me casually saying I had entered a draw to booking tickets. I am always entering NHS draws and must have entered over 200 for Concert for Carers and won 16 times, so really thought it unlikely I will win.

When I look at the poster its a case of bands I like and know and go to see or the bulk of it is people I know nothing about. Obviously, if i dont want to become single,so we are going to see Thumpasaurus 😃. Most of the names, I dont have a clue about.

I am a fan of The Gaslight Anthem, Cassette, Empire State Bastard, Crawlers, As December Falls, Dead Pony, Creeper, Frank Turner, Don Broco, Static Dress & Hot Milk.

There are others, I have seen at festivals or in support slots and so am aware of their sound i.e Bob Vylan, The Mysterines, King Nun, Nova Twins, The Pale White, Bears in Trees, & Pet Needs .

I already plan to listen to Hot Mulligan & The Chats as I have heard of them but have not actually heard their tunes.

So, if anyone has any recomendations of who is worth a listen to before going I would be gratful of the advice. There is clearly more on the poster, I dont know then bands I am familar with.

Many thanks for the tip's, I will certainly give them a listen. It should be easier to do some research once the splits etc come out and we have some times.

If you like Gaslight Anthem then Spanish Love Songs are well worth a listen!

Lauran Hibberd is great fun too, always good live and good humour. Not to be taken too seriously.

Cleopatrick are pretty cool. Bit of a Royal Blood vibe but a bit heavier.

The Xcerts are great live. Scottish rock band with pop punk elements.

Dune Rats are a sick little skater punk band from Australia. Similarities to FIDLAR in their sound/vibe.

Thanks for the steer. I did not even notice Lauren Hibberd on the poster. Seen her a few times and as you say good fun.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
