theglastokid
Thanks for this, will do the same. Was on O2 last year and it was actual despite it being fine in 2014 to 2019 so I moved to EE. I then saw Vodafone are now the sponsors so will do this as a backup. That all said, I was on the farm last month for a look around and my EE was giving me full 5G stood under the Pyramid, albeit with only me on the farm, will no doubt be different with a quarter of a million people in it with me. doogie
For what it's worth, EE still think they'll be the best network on site. https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Mobile-Network-discussions/EE-Coverage-at-Glastonbury-2023/td-p/1254527 Edited May 22, 2023 by doogie

I'm probably just old but my phone at a festival is only really used to tell the time. Exception being the year I was working it and wanted to be able to reach Mrs & nipper Hew who were at home. It's almost like people want/need different things. For example unlike you I've never once called my wife an kid whilst at a festival. Probably because I don't have a wife or kid. 1

Loads of reasons including calling your wife and child. I’m diabetic and want to know I can contact my group in an emergency if I get separated from them. My husband’s elderly parents are quite ill and he’ll want to check in on them. This forum could be a nice place if people weren’t so judgey 😊

Hopefully the Bluetooth’s grand 😄 When I’m in crowds I get constant alerts that the sensor’s not getting signal, but it works when I tap. Just means it’s not great if you use the alarms but I don’t. Let’s be honest, the vast majority want the data so they can use social media and upload pictures and videos. lots of people who are from an era of that not being an option when they were younger can’t understand why people find it almost essential, and those that do it in the normal world expect there to be a facility provided for them to be able to on the farm as well. Clash of worlds I guess.

faymondo
Ok I have ordered an esim for my normal contract. Once I have sorted this I can order a PAYG on Vodafone for £10.00 (Dont want to take the risk of being data throttled) Then I bang that in my phone. I assume this means I have two active numbers. I am only really interested in the data side of things so happy to have a different number for 5 days. Mrs Fay however if we do this on her phone would like her main number to be active in case of emergencies. Does this happen automatically or do you need to keep switching between number and if so how do you do that ? Thanks for any replies. Twiggy553
I’ve ordered a Lebara Sim on the 50p super-dooper deal. Interested to see if it gets better reception in my house than GiffGaff, in which case might make the switch permanent Edited May 23, 2023 by Twiggy553

Yeah it’s fairly easy to toggle lines on and off in settings on an iPhone both lines will be active unless you switch them off to conserve battery

Of course there will always be outliers and valid reasons though

Clash of worlds I guess. I’m of the older generation, but have 5 groups of friends from different walks and I like to go off get lost and then see who’s about, coordinate plans and meet-ups. Also have a few friends in the know and track secret Glasto, so want to know that I’ll get the call/text on time rather than 2hours later. And for 99p or £1.50 don’t really know why anyone would care, that someone might grab a second SIM as a backup 😆.
Levitz
Just a warning on the esim, I got my pack from O2 no probs, followed the instructions but after scanning QR code it wouldn't activate. I phoned O2 to sort it out and they used the serial numbers and cut off my existing sim, but the esim still wouldn't activate and I was left with no service. I had to go to an o2 store to get a new normal sim activated to get me back online and now have to do the whole esim thing from ordering all over again. So my caution would be, don't leave it till just before the festival to do it and if you can get it done instore..........
