Glastonbury festival 2002 is on

I think whether you just attend once, or you're a veteran of many, there are numerous ways in which you come home from the fields a changed person.  Whether it's simply discovering a new band or act, or being forever changed by green policies or natural healing, Glasto can certainly change your life.

Personally, as a veteran of 15 festivals I would honestly say it changed me from a somewhat confused fence-sitting child of staunch Tory parents, to a strong Socialist advocate of equality and diversity.  I've paid a lot of money to be there over the years, but I still feel I owe more for the experience and the life lessons gained there.

At least 1 visit should be on the National Curriculum.

Imagine if there was no festival , how has it changed your life ?

The festival has been the focus of our summers and has created so many unforgettable memories. Assuming it didn’t exist I’m sure without it life would have just carried on, what you never had, you never miss.

Imagine if we had to go through a fraught licensing meeting every year.? It would make ticket day look like a picnic!

I started going back in 2002 after the super fence had been approved , unlike others im not sure I would have gone prior to that ... the lawlessness probably not my thing . I had no clue about what it was all about back then with tickets basically purchased with me saying I might as well try it once as its only down the road .... 21 years later ive spent roughly 75 days on the farm or 1800 hours of wall to wall smiling ( minus about 3 hours when brexit result came in ) and probably 12 hours before the Rolling stones that weren't much fun due to a leg infection .

Group size has fluctuated we started with a big group and it dwindled to just me and best mate ... now numbers seem to be on the climb again after the virtual meets during the pandemic , i also know that around the farm Im guaranteed to bump into many people from this site ... it makes things easier doing things "alone "

obviously a significant part of my life , its changed me in that im now a much more confident person and hopefully the values of the festival have rubbed off too .

It's just all the best things about humanity...

Music, art, food, human connection, celebration, back to basics without distractions, pure joy.

It's absolutely a team effort, nothing to do with the acts. If you come away from Glasto having had a shit time, you've only got yourself to blame for not throwing yourself in.  It restores my faith in people every time and reminds me that we're all in this together and that is life affirming 😊😊 xxx

Simply, it's changed my life for the better. The first time helped me out of a very dark place, and since then it's opened my mind, introduced me to  new bands, shown me new concepts, unveiled the best of humanity and given me life-long friends from every corner of the globe.

I haven't got a ticket/volunteer space yet this year, but I like to think someone in the main sale got the ticket I was hoping for for the first time and are about to embark on a journey that will enrich their life the same way those fields did for me.
